I just never have the same feeling walking to the CCS for a night match as I did when walking to NP and seeing those 4 floodlight pylons shining down of the stadium. Goosebum time.

CB you have been around and close to the place. Is there any truth in the fact that there were plans to redevelop on the Ninian Park ground?

Ian I was once lucky enough to attend a League match at NP with an ex Premier League referee who was a guest of SH. I met SH for a couple of seconds, that's about how important I am, but I did hear a discussion about the plans SH had for the club. The Borley sycophant was there as well.

A big part of those discussion was the redevelopment of NP which involved moving the stadium at a right angle to it's old position. That would have allowed the potential of a 60,000 capacity stadium or more accurately that was what was being claimed. I remember SH saying that he believed it was essential the club had a stadium of that size if were ever to get to the PL.

In the corner of the room was a computer monitor and it was showing a count of the crowd coming through the turnstiles, it was 15 minutes to kick off and the count was 2346, I remember thinking where the feck will we get another 57,000 fans from.

But back to your questions it was said that evening that plans had been drawn up for the redevelopment of NP but there was also a plan being drawn up to redevelop the ground around the athletics stadium.

We all know what happened after and during the development of the retail park and the building of the CCS some Cardiff City directors, not SH, had a very very good payday.

Ninian park easily wins
but I can understand how old men or fans who were never into chanting and would rather sit down with a hot drink would prefer the CSS

For me I miss football how it used to be, knuckles dragging on the floor and everything. . The passion, banter and pride most Cardiff fans had was second to none.

the glory hunting fan never got it and they still dont... we all want success of course but not at the expense of the passion.

When I used to go it was a day out, a drink with the boys, banter a laugh. We hated losing back then but it did not seem as important as it does today, probably because as City fans we have had so many false dawns that this time we all thought this is it.

yet we had to go to a souless stadium and success came in red and now we are almost back to where we were from the start, but with more debt in red and a megalomaniac at the helm.

give me back league 1 in a passion filled stadium in Blue and rebuild any day.

Thanks for that CB. That was a good read.

Difficult to believe we could attract 60,000 when we were playing in front of 2,000. When I started watching the city in the early 70's I was at those 2 games that attracted over 50,000, Real Madrid and the once might Leeds United. I have always believed we would return to those days and under Sam I had hope. To me it seems politics has butted in to our lives like most things it does and has spoilt the progress.

Ninian without a shadow of a doubt. Hate the ccs to be honest, yes it's lovely and shiny and the facilities are great, but it don't feel like home and doubt it ever will. :( :(
