Ha ha thanks Annis! Stants book was superb! One of the best around and I believe he actually wrote it himself. The Falklands chapters were incredible. The man is a legend. Can still see him bullying defences now. They really don't make them like Stantona anymore.

In my time which covers 1967-2014 Toshack & Clarke are way better than anything I've seen to date.

2 legends in my eyes. Loved the pair of them. If i remember right I was dissapointed with the turnout for Dales testimonial against Villa but i'm sure it was the end of a relegation season. Am i right in thinking it was a testimonial or some kind of charity match, only a kid at the time so i could be way off

I loved Bob Hatton and Jeff Hemmerman for the short time they played together. Jeff Hemmerman in his prime was surely one of the best poachers we've ever had

Adrian Alston and Tony Evans.

:old:

Those are the days when I first started going, I always thought Tony Evans would go on to bigger things, did we not sigh him from Orient?

I think it might have been Blackpool but couldn't swear to it - the memory is not what it used to be! :old:

Loved watching him and Alston playing together.

Im going to google it, were getting old

Your right :thumbright:

Funny how we can remember which teams we signed certain players from in the 70's but it's so difficult to remember our wedding anniversary or the wife's birthday!

Dale and pikey, although pikey had a really good goals per game ratio he missed a few chances and always got a raw deal from the city fans.

Re: ' Stantona and Dale '

There's been three main strike partnerships I've loved at Cardiff during my time.

Phil Stant and Carl Dale was the first one I experienced. The second was Peter Thorne and Rob Earnshaw which was prolific. The number of goals Earnie got was unbelievable but the number of assists Thorne got was equally amazing.

However, one very underrated one is the Jay Bothroyd and Ross McCormack partnership. When we signed Michael Chopra again it ruined that partnership with McCormack being forced wide. If we had kept Bothroyd and McCormack together that season then I am adamant they would have fired us to the Championship title.

Dale was the main man for me when I started to follow but the above pair were the business IMO . Ripped league 1 apart that one year .
