Re: Crystal Palace to unveil Malcom Mackay as new manager

To be honest, he is probably a good choice as he models himself on a Pullis style.

There will be more continuity, as they basically share the same philosophy, but obviously Pullis is a better version.

Malky's weakness was obviously buying the right players for the right money in the premiership, this will be an interesting appointment, can he keep them up ????

Personally I doubt it, Pullis is a hard act for anyone to follow....

Mackay poised to be given Palace job and £25m transfer fund
Posted on August 20, 2014

So it’s to be Malky Mackay. Which it was always going to be from the moment Iain Moody was made “sporting director”, or whatever vacuous title he was given when appointed last year, and after Mackay fell foul of the strange goings on in Cardiff’s boardroom that ultimately consigned that club to relegation.

Doing the Mal-Bot: Malky Mackay, a big fan of Olympic runner Mo Farah, apparently, and probably the new Palace manager

Crystal Palace were expected today to name Mackay, the former Celtic (not many matches), Norwich (not many more matches) and West Ham (a few matches) player and ex-Watford and Cardiff boss, as their successor to Tony Pulis, who left Selhurst Park in a bit of a rush last week. Mackay’s footballing CV is about as thin as… well, Jose Mourinho’s, but the Scot’s working relationship with Moody – who is “highly rated” by Palace co-chairman Steve Parish, by all accounts – has counted for much.

At the weekend another leading candidate, Tim Sherwood, flew into London for talks from Spain, where most out-of-work English football managers are to be found, apparently, but has heard nothing more since he returned to his sun-lounger.

Paper-thin newspaper speculation that Glenda Hoddle, the former England, Chelsea and Spurs boss with an odd penchant for faith-healers in the dressing room, turned out to be just that. Rather than being sounded out, Hoddle, in the the first month of a new job as Harry “The Bet” Redknapp’s assistant at Loftus Road, is said to have made the call to ask about the job. Wonder how that’ll go down at QPR?

When reflecting at the end of this season I feel all these actions will prove we should have given that man a full term in the top flight last yr.

I still feel Ole will be gone by xmas. I like him personally but feel he’s no good, exactly same as many of you boys on MM. I’d give Ole a full yr personally, but I think Tan is a time bomb in waiting.

The circus rolls on for us, fresh sheet for Malks tho.

what about Ole's undefeated competative record this season makes you feel he's 'no good'?

Ole had a decent start agreed but we've played Huddersfield who had no manager and scrapped past an average Wigan team playing with average ex-city players. We've got 3 games away in a row next and results should be more reflective, but to answer you why, it boils down to my suspicions that tactically, he still dosn't know his best team, his subs v blackburn were stange to me and I think hes way out of his depth even at this level. Thats just my opinion though and Time will tell. hope your right and im wrong, we are all Bluebirds after all. Good luck to MM none the less, hope he does the Jacks over big time!

Deal COULD be OFF over disagreement over backroom staff.

i agree with some of your points, reading back my post looked a bit bitey and i didnt mean it like that.

but a lot of people are saying ole doesn't know his best team, but i think success can come from a constant rotation, is he keeps tinkering we will have a whole squad that can play together instead of 18 or so players AND in theory we'll have the fittest squad in the league.

Don't see why he's going to be picky over staff when Millen is a decent assistant. He already has Moody as someone to work with. He shouldn't be picky at all
