If people don't realise that donating to local charities is a PR stunt then they really don't know PR. Lets be honest when he done it here it was helping to strengthen the pro-Tan argument from people who many had never even watched Cardiff City in their lives before!!!

your a very sad twisted person..

A yes or no: Is it good PR to twist a real meaning of something with a charity..? Of course it is FFS!! It may not be a nice thing to think about but that's what good PR is surely..? And unfortunately a prime example of what I mean is Jimmy f*cking Saville!!! the c**t was promoting charity yet he was secretly being scum of the highest order.

Adam, that so disappoints

Where do you think the donated monies go, then??

Does it not benefit the people who genuinely need it in most cases??

Does it not help alleviate the suffering of people who are often unable to help themselves for so many genuine reasons (as in Bosnia)??

I think you must have a very narrow view of the world if you genuinely believe that everyone who can afford to donate to charity (large or small amounts) does it solely for "PR reasons"

Thank goodness SOMEONE (in this case the affluent Tan) gets off their backside to "make a difference" to the people who matter, whilst others (sadly including you, ironically a former politician) stand in their Ivory Towers and shout loudly that he is doing it for ulteria motives other than conscience, a desire to help others, and (luckily for him) that he can afford to

Like many on here, I donate to certain charities regularly and others when I can. I don't stand on a soap box and announce it to the world every time because I don't do it for that. I do it because people actually NEED it on occasion in order to advance treatment and/or conditions for others who may be seriously ill and/or who may be suffering through no fault of their own. What I will do though, is choose the charities I want to support (and which may be personal to me and mine)

As a former politician, how did YOU advance the lives of the poorest in the community YOU represented??

Somehow, your reply above suggests "not a lot" and may well point (in part at least ;) ) as to why you weren't invited by the required majority to represent them a second time

Don't 'knock' Tan (or anyone else) for donating to charity when they can afford to do so. Rather have a 'pop' at the politicians who often (but not always, depending on who they need to appease) stand idly by when people are crying out for real (not rhetorical) help

Personally, I didn't 'knock' Tan when he donated to worthy charities in Cardiff and I see no need to do so when he does it elsewhere. Good on him but even better for others, I say

Twisting the real meaning/message with a local charity happens at all levels of business and politics I bet there are a number of people who know businesses or company directors who sponsor something or donate to a local charity because they are really after something else..? Even local councillors sponsor local sports teams out of their wages because they are after something else ;) Like it or not that's what PR is about at the end of the day!!!

I knew someone would say that I'm a trying to compare Saville with Tan in an attempt to boost their argument when that's clearly not the case. The reason I mentioned Saville was to give the biggest example I could of someone clouding over the real reasons of his scum actions simply because there were charities involved.

not everyone on here understands business and politics when it comes to PR yet everyone understands the Saville example I used.

You even agreed with me that good PR is twisting the real meaning with local chairites and its used at all levels. You then give a good example of the local butcher so surely as Tans wealth is more than your local butcher its the same thing just on a different scale is it not..?

Adam, sadly, that is EXACTLY what you did and no amount of amateur political posturing can say otherwise

Things made worse for you by the 'support' you received from Bluebird1977

I don't really care what your thoughts on Tan the football man are, but to attack the guy for being able to make a difference to the more needy in this world is wrong for so many reasons NOTHING to do with football!

I have no great 'issue' with either of you, but I'm embarrassed for the pair of you on this occasion

This is my last post on this matter, as I think you are now on an unwinnable mission to 'justify' your original statement, Adam

Put simply...I don't think ANYONE (Tan included) deserves to be criticised/ridiculed/questioned in the manner to which you (and by association Bluebird1977) have subjected them today

It doesn't matter how much they have or how much is donated, to my mind every single penny that goes to a worthwhile charity is to the commendation of those who contribute; whether that be a billionaire like Vincent tan or an ordinary worker like me and most of the members of this great (and thankfully once again improving) Forum

The FACT that they DO contribute means someone less fortunate gets the help they so urgently require and which your fellow (sorry former ;) ) political colleagues constantly FAIL to deliver UNLESS there is political motive behind it!

As an aside, although I may be wrong on this, but didn't Jimmy Saville (a man I wish could be brought back to answer for his haenous crimes  ) RAISE money (i.e. donated to his so-called causes by other businesses and/or members of the public) rather than DONATE it out of his own monies like Vincent Tan does??

I think (once again) there is a high difference between the two

Yet you agree with the theory yet not the content. Absolute hypocrite

in this thread.........i have said your brainwashed......called you twisted, sad, wierd and pathetic....and suggested you go away for a few weeks to reflect on your values....you seriously think i agree with you?

You give an example yourself of something similar but on a far smaller scale

my point was NO ONE in their rite mind would consider the butcher donating a turkey to the local school was for PR....
you can not pick and choose over what charity is good or bad.what gifts are.genuinely kind hearted or just to manipulate peoples feelings towards you.............but its Tan.......he is a wanker......if he saved your life youd turn around and say he didnt because your highlander..ffs

If people don't realise that donating to local charities is a PR stunt then they really don't know PR. Lets be honest when he done it here it was helping to strengthen the pro-Tan argument from people who many had never even watched Cardiff City in their lives before!!!

Adam, this is why you get so much shit.

You are pro-red anyway

What a load of shit. :laughing6:

Well done Vincent. :ayatollah:

Thats's peanuts to Vinny.Vincent Tan is a media whore. He will do anything with his wealth to gain adoration. He has been seen for what he is over here.Thats one of the reasons's why the great majority of City fans dislike him. That photo looks like many taken of Adolf Hitler during the peake of his popularity.Look at the expression on his face.Look at me.Look at me.Some people are realy gullible. There are real people out there working hard to raise money for charity.Doing their best to keep out of the lime light. They just get on with it in the hope that their work will help those worse off than themselves.Vincent Tan however'does these thing's for popularity.TAN OUT. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:
