If people don't realise that donating to local charities is a PR stunt then they really don't know PR. Lets be honest when he done it here it was helping to strengthen the pro-Tan argument from people who many had never even watched Cardiff City in their lives before!!!

A yes or no: Is it good PR to twist a real meaning of something with a charity..? Of course it is FFS!! It may not be a nice thing to think about but that's what good PR is surely..? And unfortunately a prime example of what I mean is Jimmy f*cking Saville!!! the c**t was promoting charity yet he was secretly being scum of the highest order.

Adam, that so disappoints![]()
Where do you think the donated monies go, then??
Does it not benefit the people who genuinely need it in most cases??
Does it not help alleviate the suffering of people who are often unable to help themselves for so many genuine reasons (as in Bosnia)??
I think you must have a very narrow view of the world if you genuinely believe that everyone who can afford to donate to charity (large or small amounts) does it solely for "PR reasons"
Thank goodness SOMEONE (in this case the affluent Tan) gets off their backside to "make a difference" to the people who matter, whilst others (sadly including you, ironically a former politician) stand in their Ivory Towers and shout loudly that he is doing it for ulteria motives other than conscience, a desire to help others, and (luckily for him) that he can afford to
Like many on here, I donate to certain charities regularly and others when I can. I don't stand on a soap box and announce it to the world every time because I don't do it for that. I do it because people actually NEED it on occasion in order to advance treatment and/or conditions for others who may be seriously ill and/or who may be suffering through no fault of their own. What I will do though, is choose the charities I want to support (and which may be personal to me and mine)
As a former politician, how did YOU advance the lives of the poorest in the community YOU represented??
Somehow, your reply above suggests "not a lot" and may well point (in part at least) as to why you weren't invited by the required majority to represent them a second time
Don't 'knock' Tan (or anyone else) for donating to charity when they can afford to do so. Rather have a 'pop' at the politicians who often (but not always, depending on who they need to appease) stand idly by when people are crying out for real (not rhetorical) help
Personally, I didn't 'knock' Tan when he donated to worthy charities in Cardiff and I see no need to do so when he does it elsewhere. Good on him but even better for others, I say

I knew someone would say that I'm a trying to compare Saville with Tan in an attempt to boost their argument when that's clearly not the case. The reason I mentioned Saville was to give the biggest example I could of someone clouding over the real reasons of his scum actions simply because there were charities involved.
