Every player Ole has got rid of so far would have been a more than useful squad member in the Championship. Hopefully, Ole's own players will be improvements, but I honestly don't think Ole's players have the same guts, grit, character and steel about them which are essential to succeed over a 46 game slog in the Championship.

I firmly believe we will be unable to grind out a tough 1-0 win at Rotherham under Ole and that's what's required in the Championship. There's too many games to be able to peak all the time, so when you don't perform, you must have the endeavour, organisation and character to still be able to grind out scrappy wins. Hopefully I will be proved wrong, but players like McNaughton, Conway and Cowie are good honest pro's who will always continue battling away to the very end and I think our squad is a lot worse off without these players.

Le Fondre - scored 10+ goals each season, got Reading promoted
Macheda - scored a good amount of goals in a struggling team
Guerra - same again under Macheda in a top league in a struggling team
Burgstaller - Looks a technical midfielder, strong in stature and looks to have a good delivery
KG - Knows the division inside out and played 26 times for Palace last season.

Why are you predicting games months away like Rotherham? What is everyone's obsession with battlers? You don't spend a shit load of money and continue to battle. I believe we'll be a flair side with convincing wins over a lot of teams, here and there we'll stumble and lose to the lesser sides but we have a lot of quality. The CB we buy will be pivotal to our season.

Give me the likes of Macheda, Guerra & ALF over rubbish like Gestede ANYDAY. :bluescarf:

Cowie was good, but I don't think he will be a massive loss & he didn't want to stay anyway.

Conway was unhappy here, but would have been an asset this season, in my eyes.

McNaughton should have stayed. Great back up and has played all across the back four for us at one point or another.

Agree with the above poster. Gestede had a decent spell last season in the Championship but I remain unsold on his ability long term. We definitely have better in Guerra, ALF, Mason, and Macheda.

Cowie was a player I felt generally could have been used more as a DM but he wanted to move on so no complaints about that.

I think Conway and McNaughton could both definitely have been used better and more often. Conway should have been played on the right side more and McNaughton deserved more game time over KTC last season. Disappointed to see both leave.

I still don't think our defence is good enough to get us up automatically this season.

Don Cowie, Craig Conway, Kevin McNaughton

All good for the Championship, real battlers in my opinion.

I personally believe those are the type of players you need to get out of this division, with of course some real quality added to the squad.

They are the players that got us out of the Championship last time in which not only did we win it, we won it very comfortable

I know many will disagree with me, but that's what's good about football and other people's opinions

I also believe Peter Whittingham on his day is class, but on his day, for the last 18 months I believe he has done hardly anything, but then I am only a fan and its a fans opinion.

Whitts gets an extra 3 years contract.

Honest opinions please, don't shoot me down to much  as it's how I see it

I agree with you about McNaughton and -to a lesser extent Conway. But Cowie, I never thought he brought much to the team anyway, so not bothered either way.

Also, don't forget Ole wants to bring his own style of play and these players may just not fit in with that.

Spot on mate. The players might be decent but ole would want players that fit into his philosophy.

I like all three but.............

Conway can't beat a man, Kev gives 100% and popular but delivery is poor, Cowie is a workhorse, doing all the dirty stuff and no more.

Good luck to all of them. All played massive part in our promotion

This seasons side will be Ole's team - no excuses there
