Odd. Brayford I feel will be outstanding from what I've seen of him last season. I would think Superkev will have a recall clause in case we pick up knocks. And yes, he absolutely deserves a testimonial, as he's a proper city legend.

I think he was just covering his own back, maybe assumed he could get rid of donkeys like KTC but his wages are to much. Doubt we would let him go unless his wages are covered

Bolton News

11th July 2014

Kevin McNaughton is expected to join Bolton on a season-long loan over the weekend, after Wanderers reached an agreement with Cardiff City.

McNaughton spent three months on loan at the Reebok Stadium last season, scoring once in 13 games, but returned to the Welsh over the Christmas period after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's arrival as Bluebirds manager.

The 31-year-old signed a new 12-month contract in March, but will instead spend that time on loan at the Macron Stadium - filling the right-back role made available by Alex Baptiste's loan move to Blackburn Rovers.

The move will be subject to international clearance, due to Cardiff's registration with the Welsh FA, but McNaughton is expected to join the Wanderers squad on their tour of Scandinavia early next week.

i think Ole covered every base here........sort him a contract first and then evaluate the squad..we have way too many players and since being promoted have signed 3 full backs as well as Decs coming along..........something had to give

Kevin McNaughton was a Dave Jones signing, from Aberdeen FC, at the start of the 2006/7 season. Although relatively unknown down here, he proved to be a very good right back, (although some may also say injury prone).

For me, Kevin is an example of a true professional,,,kept himself fit, always gave 101%, & always came back after a period of "struggle",,,if you know what i mean.

Because he's getting rid of one of your favourite players when he's barely featured for us anyway? Ole wants to make his own stamp on things and Brayford is an equally as good full-back

Agree ole is trying to build a squad that will only need a few players if he can get us back to the premiership. People like Kevin and cowie would never feature if we went back up.
For the people who go on about debt we have a squad of forty players at the moment so quite a few more have to leave to get the wage bill down
I would rather see a squad of players that has a chance of playing in the premiership than a squad of championship standard only players. I'm afraid the likes of Kevin and cowie are in the last category

Steve, you are absolutely right, & like i said in an earlier poet, there is no room for sentiment in football.

Agree with this. There's no doubt that Super Kev has been a great servant for this club and will be an asset to Bolton in the Championship, however, if we were to return to the Premier League then Kev wouldn't feature.

Taylor, McNaugton, and Cowie gone regulars championship winning promotion season, are we that much better now that we can let the players that got us up go ????

Although I really like McNaughton (who doesn't he has given us 100%), I think it is time to move on, and I wouldn't have any of the above in our first team.....

Who's next to go from Malky's winning team ?????

It's a shame that we couldn't get a small fee for him and get a permanent transfer done, I can only assume that no club is interested in signing him on a permanent basis? I never really understood why he was given another contract by Malky in the first place, KM might as well have been allowed to leave 2years ago.

Gavin

when did he ever put a proper cross into the box for someone to head it in. 99% of his crosses ended up in row z of the canton stand.
looked good going forward but no end product

A city legend.

Loan is a great move for both parties here though.
Could be 4th choice now, but may be 2nd or 1st choice by Christmas if players don't perform. :bluescarf:

Club legend. I hope for two things:

1 That CCFC give him a testimonial.
2 That Brayford is as good as people make out...

I'm glad Super Kev had a crack at the likes of Arsenal, United and Swansea in the Prem - he'd earned it.

testimonials are normally for 10 years of service and above,

he has only been here 8

Exactly, he's just doing what any manager is doing, using his resources to his strength but adding his own stance on the squad. The players he's buying are also very young or just in the middle, Guerra seemed a Tan signing but a good back-up option if we get promoted. I'm certain the wage bill will go down once we off-load the big summer signings and a few dead waste. But I fully agree, Ole is preparing a squad more than capable of competing in the Premier League as well so we won't have to make as many signings if we return to the Prem

Sad to see him go. Would have liked to keep him as back up instead of KTC. Hoping it means Brayford is staying

Good luck Kev

Gutted personally I would start him over ktc all day.

Why a loan though? Surely he's still got some value he's only about 30 and still got a few years left. Might as well sell and get something for him whilst we can

Alas you're right Steve, but his primary job was to defend which he was good at, any as I mentioned in a squeeze he could cover anywhere along the back 4, he is quick going forward, obviously his distribution was a bit iffy but he could deffo do a job next season.

I prefer a defender who can defend and carry out his secondary duties as a good level, instead of being better at going forward while struggling defensively like Declan.
