- Germany is European (like the UK a part of it), and they always insist Wales should support England as it's part of the UK... same rules for everyone...

Id be all for it. Im aproud a Welshman as the rest of you but ive been watching the bog tournaments as a neutral all my life.
I live in Germany and seeing how chuffed everybody is about the world cup is cool.... but it means nothing to the welsh.

Not too sure the analogy fits this particular scenario, though. Like it or not (as Scotland are about to find out) we are the United Kingdom and ultimately are deemed one country in the world away from sport

Although we have a huge chance to qualify for the next Euros, the main reason why some Welsh people would want this to happen is because Wales never qualify for a major tournament. So the Bury (or any other team in Greater Manchester) analogy works in that sense as Bury won't be in the Premier League any time soon.

I know we have a 'Team GB' in the Olympics and other sports, but it would seem like the only reason we'd be in favour of this is so that we (the Welsh) can gain an easy entry to a major finals thanks to a heavily based English squad, and that wouldn't feel right to me as a proud Welshman.

Definitely not for me. The Welsh football side might be shit but they are our shit and at least when we succeed in qualifying for a tournament at some point then it will be all down to us and not with the help of anyone else. That day, I will be very proud.
