You have to be clever here guys, aggression will get nowhere but passion might. A compromise is a start. So let's get thinking of a good one. He definitely needs to know that a unified fan base is our best chance of promotion and staying up, you can't just throw money at it like last season proved.hmmmm

Re: IT IS YOUR CALL, WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Just reverse the strips. Kits as they are, blue home and red away. That would do for a start and would be realitively simple to implement. We can work on the badge later.

If I had the chance to meet VT the first thing I'd try to do is somehow get the man onside. We need Tan to compromise and at the end of the day he will always have the final say. There would be no point going into a meeting with him and saying fck you and your red shirt and you can stick the beer mat up your arse. Best to look to a simple solution and work with it.

It all depends on just who you think you're representing carl. For me it would be debt to equity and then we fight on.I'd rather be fighting for blue in a solvent situation than lamenting it over a dead club. Not yours or Annis' view I'm sure but just a reminder that you don't represent everyone's view, far from it.

Tan is a bullying tw*t.Its time to turn up the heat.Make life difficult for him by demonstrating outside the ground early enough to block him from the ground. And late enough if he is already in to block him in.Chant more comments at him during games so as to drive home to those of his countrymen how much he is held in contempt over here.

No compromise. You have to make him see that he has lost the battle with the fans regarding the rebrand. The whole fan base is almost entirely BLUE. He can keep us red and continue to be a figure of hatred and ridicule or he can change us back to BLUE and lead a united Club and united fan base back to the Premier League and become an instant hero. Most sensible people would choose to be a hero rather than be hated. :bluescarf:

What a stupid answer..go in with that attitude and come out with F*** A**
Just remember who holds all the aces, be sensible and find some middle ground, going in gung ho and you'll come out with your tail between your legs and no more meetings.
If there is a meeting remember your representing all supporters not just the hard liners like the guy above.
The original badge for me is important it needs to be reinstated, the kit colour as others have said can be some sort of mixture of blue and red.

Honest answer to your question Carl, for me it's all or nothing! If he is not willing to give us the blue kit and badge back then I want him out personally. And if it were up to me I would drive him out as a group of fans because I don't believe he will ever give us our identity back.

Obviously I'm just speaking for myself here, no idea if I'm in the minority or not. :bluescarf:

I'd ask for a return to the old club crest and blue kit....However If we had to compromise (which I dont think we should) and could only have one, it would be the club crest for me...The Blue colour is obviously important but I identify with the Bluebird and Club Crest and said so via my own 'Give Us our Club Crest Back Now' Pages in 2012....

Hopefully we can at some point get BOTH!

Blue kit. I hated Hammam's shit badge but it didn't upset or make me doubt the whole integrity of our club and many of its supporters.

Please don't ever say red is ok when representing the fans!!

Re: IT IS YOUR CALL, WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Not a lot of compromise on here.

We forget it's his compromise to make. It's his club his choice. We go in saying want badge and blue back we will get nothing.

Re: IT IS YOUR CALL, WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Why has he got to meet certain people? Why can't he ask s/t holders, members or anybody on the fan base their opinions and do it in a democratic way. Then the majority wins and that's it. I know he doesn't know what democracy is but it would be the fairest way.

if this is to happen..i believe anything offered should go to a vote of ST holders................no complaints at a later date.........one man/one woman one vote.........not a dozen deciding for everyone..........been down this road once and we are still on it..........

Re: IT IS YOUR CALL, WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Tue Jul 08, 2014 10:20 am

A poll of st holders would be a good idea, if he believes it's only a small minority that want blue then he's got nothing to worry about has he. Work it on a %, if say 80% or however many agreed on vote for blue then we go back to blue, if it less then he gets his way and we stay red. This way he can't back out and it's fair.

I wouldn't even bother sitting around the table with Tan unless a return to blue was at the very top of any mutually agreed agenda. If it isn't, I wouldn't waste my time.

As much as I'd like to think that protests to date are having an impact on him, I think it's clear that that probably isn't the case. An all red home strip for next season and a new tier of red shirts would suggest that he's as dogmatic over the whole red thing as he ever was.

If people want to talk to him that's their call. Personally, I think he needs to feel a lot more heat from the fanbase before we even consider entering into dialogue with him.

i dont agree with heat from the fan base..........i honestly think the opposite.......and straight away you have the problem of where this meet the fans leaders will go wrong..............had Tan put the original rebrand to a vote of fans, whatever was decided would be there to fall back on by both him and us............

Carl. What this invitation needs is diplomacy. I think I have an idea for a compromise offer...

Ask for one season - this season with a return to blue as the home kit. I am convinced with the team being backed fully by a full stadium of united supporters we will go up. Vincent Tan himself would feel a different, positive set of emotions from the fans and media alike, and if we went up in Blue... I wonder if superstitious Vincent would want to return us back to 'lucky' Red.

As for the badge - I know I will invite strong opposition with this comment but the badge is not important to me in truth. I know not many have spoken up about this, but the 'old badge' is not that old and that traditional. It's from our doldrum years in the '80's'. While this is an important era for many of our current fanbase, it is our least important era on the World football map.I think most new chairman would have updated as the 'old badge' was a poor design I'm sorry. Those boxes with the leek and the dragon. Amateur graphics from the '80's. Sorry!!

I know some people will hate my badge comment, but I think the one season in blue is a good idea and shows we are willing to work with Tan and on a political level, we might eventually get the outcome we want...

Assuming Tan is just planning to meet reps of this board and not the Supporters Trust, you should politely decline the meeting and suggest he meets those representitives who have been democratically elected from the Supporters Trust.

For the good of the club, Tan to convert his loans into equity and the badge/shirt can be whatever he wants

As far as I'm concerned, the old badge isn't worth fighting for until Tan has made the club debt free.

Exactly!! Someone was making the point this morning - Annis I think - about record highs and lows in shirts sales. So instead of this year being a record low, we could turn it into a high, with all the profits going to Cosway - to Tan - and back into the club. Showing him that this has far greater a value than 'potential' sales to the Far East...

Re: IT IS YOUR CALL, WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Personally, I feel that our colour is more important than the badge- club badges are interchangeable (unfortunately), with many clubs in world football having changes in design at some point. If we were to compromise on the colour, even slighty, ie. blue shirt and red shorts, I think this again in the long run would lead to more and more red.

When you think of a football club, you don't think of their badge or what colour the seats in the stadium are? You think of their shirt colour...if Mr Tan were to allow fans one 'compromise', it should be BACK TO BLUE!

The supporters reps should open up any dialogue by suggesting that they will make sure that they will do their utmost to encourage the fan base to support VT in everything that he does going forward, if he would consider
A. Switching the kits, so as we play this season in the blue at home and we accept that we are Red away
B. Compromise on the badge, we keep the existing one this year, then next year a new design with a bluebird having parity with the Dragon on the new badge.
c. The supporters accept that VT will turn debt to equity under his own time frame, but we expect an open dialogue and explanation to why such a time scale is necessary.

I didn't vote anyone in to The Supporters Trust, fella, so they don't represent me one iota! ;)

I'd rather have the frank and open dialogue suggested buy this thread any day, than a political-style meeting where each side postures for weeks on end before putting out statements that are (shall we say) 'guarded' at best and often nonsensical in their information!

Wouldn't expect you to understand that, of course, because YOU have an agenda on your rival club's Forum to point out the obvious at all times; hence, no real credibility with which to have an opinion ;)

The club would have already submitted it's colours for next season to the Football League so unless the club make an application to change colours and the FL approve it the opportunity for changing next season are pretty slim. The club are however allowed to play one home match each season in the registered "Away" playing strip. The one match in our away "Blue" strip should be the very first point on which any discussions take place.

The club should agree to this, at the very least, and the match should be decided by a ballot of season ticket holders. If the club is not prepared to agree to this then there is nothing to discuss because, in my opinion, it was be clear that VT has not been sincere in looking "For a compromise".

Going forward I cannot see VT agreeing to any position where "Red" is not included in the home strip and we may have accept a Blue / Red playing strip but as has been suggested a "Red / Blue" away kit.

I've never been a great advocate of the badge or club crest but there should be no compromise on getting rid of the Dragon and returning the "Bluebird" to it's rightful prominent position. As far as I'm concerned the badge or club crest could be redesigned and again any new design to be agreed by a ballot of season ticket holders.
