He just made my point for me though.

Can you imagine Bony going for £5m on the open market? No me neither :laughing6:

Ronaldo had a crap world cup, maybe we should put a cheeky £4m bid in, it seems the 3 games at the world cup are far more telling that the full season he just played. So on that basis we should get him. :laughing6:

And gervinho the arsenal flop had a better world cup than yaya toure, cristiano ronaldo and iniesta.

Sort of my point really. Thats the difference between a few games in a tournament and a top class full season.

This is exactly the problem with the English national side. They think because they have players playing high up in '' the beat league in the world '' they think they are world class. Well AGAIN every single english player has been proven they are not world class. Foreign players make them look good in the prem. Look at Sturridge, probably England's most promising player... Suarez made him look incredible last year... Couldn't hit a barn door in the world cup.

Medel is worth 6m tops.

He's had a good World Cup.

This is all rather repetitive and tiresome.

Dont be so ridiculous. Are you suggesting that Ronaldo isnt world class because he had a rubbish world cup and Portugal were foolish to take him on the back of a good domestic season? :laughing6:

You are on to a non starter as you are basically saying 4 games is a better barometer than 40 or 50.

Perhaps you have been missing my point. Football is one big game of hype. The prem hypes players up more than anywhere else in the world. You cant argue at the moment though that medel looks, or some will argue, is proven world class. Just like some players 'look' world class in the prem when really they are not.

Nope i dont agree at all. The premier league doesnt hype anything up, it is merely a platform to allow a player to show what he can do. The good thing about the domestic season is that its test number is almost 40 games. As for the World Cup, it is an event just as much as it is a tournament, which means hype is multiplied.

A prime example is James Rodriguez. Banging them in for Monaco and barely a mention, a handful of games at the world cup and he os the second coming of Maradona.

The world cup is hype, the domestic season is the truth. Again i refer you to Cristiano Ronaldo. If you wish to think Gary Medel is world class on the back of 2 good games then by all means do it, however people with a sensible outlook will always remind you that he has had a handful of good games in his last 40-50.

Agreed. Its crazy the hyperbole cardiff fans create over this man, he hardly gets a mention (i asume its just uk commentators) just another one of the Chile team that won 2 and lost 2. Yet on here chile were "team of the tournament" :laughing6:

Chile won 2, lost 1 and drew 1. Against the Netherlands they were the better team and certainly deserved at least a point.

Medel is a very good player but his game is not suited to the premier league. La liga is where he should be playing due to slower pace.

hell you talk some crap .you base him being a average player on a season playing in a struggling cardiff side that played
Poor football. What about the seasons he had playing in Spain(which is better) or the 50 odd caps he has play for a country that is better than England and wales. A bit stupid aren't you . Are saying robbie savage is better than him because he could cut it in the prem.

So which part of average PREMIER LEAGUE player is confusing you then? :?

Didnt notice him in La Liga, the fact he felt his options were limited to joining relegation favourites when on the open market leads me to think he was probably subject to the same few good games hyperbole but when it came to the crunch clubs realise that good players are good for more than just a handful of games a season.

Have another go Brains

Well I did notice him in la liga as I watch it a fair bit and he looked a cracking . He was great for Sevilla who are a top end club .Came to us because we probably offered him more cash as most players will go to who's paying the most cash.

Don't talk a load of bollox!!! :laughing6: Brazil are unbeaten at home for the last 39, yes 39 years and it took a penalty shoot out to maintain that magnificent record. Your blinkered view of Medel has clouded your judgement of him and his countrymen on this occasion. Could you run 10KM in 109 minutes tackling some of the best players in world football while carrying a thigh strain? The Chile manager stated on Friday that if the match was played on that day Medel would not be able to play yet a day later he went through the pain barrier. Medel and Chile were magnificent. Even Scolari admitted Brazil got lucky against Chile!! his words were "Chile were brilliant". I would trust his judgement before yours :laughing6:

I'm pretty sure England and John Barnes beat Brazil in 1984....in Brazil. That wasn't 39 years ago.Just saying.

I watch a fair bit of La Liga too, still barely noticed him. Had the odd good game here and there, but so did Mark Gower. As many have come to know, my views on a player are far better than most. See Cornelius for details.

I dont remember seeing anyone else at all after him let alone you offering more cash.
