It seems some people forget that Tan was welcomed as a saviour to the club, at the beginning.
We were in blue, and he paid the bills, and funded a new squad (cheap, but funded by him)

This is all Before the rebrand idea was released. So I think bringing old photos out of fans with the Malaysian flag is talken out of context to "fit an agenda" (as people here like to say)

My personal belief is that if Tan hadn't come in, we wouldn't have gone under, because the club was already a promising prospect for someone with a few quid about them. :
....................................................................................................................................................................................I stopped reading your promising looking post at this point as you are factually incorrect. We WOULD have gone under and that is fact and a matter of public record. And at the time there was NO-ONE else either. The number of people on here who think that without Tan's intervention we would still be a club in business and playing in blue is mindboggling. Not saying I wanna be in red but lets get our facts right eh.

don't let facts get in the way of yet another tan bashing thread,James c another one of annis's puppets

Hardly, read the post... I defend anyone who supports the red/Tan to be allowed to hold that view, as it is their own. Just because the view is different to mine, doesn't mean they can't have it.

And this isn't a Tan bashing thread at all.

the flag photos etc are being posted to remind people with short memories of what happened...........i hate red..and the truth is i felt i should be doing something and didnt...........many will tell you that they DID..........the reality is most stood back and allowed it..encouraged it even.............i remember very clearly what happened, and for those early days of red there was no visible resistence to it...........WE as a fan base accepted the silver..thats the truth............personally i didnt think we should have..but am man enough to admit as a group we did.............Tan offered to withdraw, and was coaxed not too........

You are bang on there but I have never accepted it and there's lots like me and there's the ones who did give tan a chance but have quite rightly lost patients.

Yes, but there were no open plans about a rebrand at this point. Why wouldn't we accept Tan and welcome him at this point?
I'm not supporting blue or red here. It was about everyone being allowed to support whichever side of the argument they want without abuse or ridicule.

this is where i get lost...........ive never embraced the red, but along with everyone else, i was not stood outside the main office with a banner 24/7 at the time..........i accepted the rebrand in that i continued watching,,,,,,call a spade a spade, there was little protest, and there were not thousands arguing over it under the stands..........well he put up the cash......and now results have turned pple are losing patience........this chance you gave him?..was it ALL about results?

Capital of Wales, playing in the English leagues (uniqueness of the club)
Big City which is a tourist destination
Cardiff have won a major cup (1927) and had been in another FA cup final in more recent times
We had been pushing for promotion and although we couldn't take that last step, we were considered one of the championships big boys,
We had been to Wembley more times than any other club except Chelsea.
brand spanking, fresh new stadium

A lot of positives there, and yes, as I said, they would have had to do what Tan did, and front up some cash, but there was so much potential with the club, with a willing investor.
Now obviously, before anyone says it, I agree, nobody came forward until VT was brought on board. But how do we actually know what goes on behind the scenes? It's all conjecture, and we'll never know, just like we'll never know if we would have survived if Malky was left in charge.

We just need to accept that, we are in this situation, there will always be divided opinion, and that's fine, it's good for debate (until it gets personal/even violent)
The fans who want to wear blue, and hold up their flags at 19:27 should be allowed to do so without opposition, the ones who want to show they're grateful for Tan's investment despite the rebrand, should also be allowed to hold those views. Regardless of whether people agree or not. We aren't always going to agree, what we need to do though, despite whether you are for Tan or against him, is support Ole and the lads on the pitch. Thats why I go, that's why I sing, and that's what I love.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand *breathe*!
:bluescarf: :ayatollah:

The blue protest would not have grown in the same way if VT has paid off the club debt as promised. Many people were willing to accept the red to put the club on a healthy future path. VT lost a lot of support because he didn't fulfil this promise.
