Yet nobody worth their salt wants him for what seems like peanuts.

Odd.

How could you POSSIBLY know that? Do you deal with our transfers then? The most logical explanation is we are waiting until after the world cup to get the right deal done.

So you assume that being one of the best players in the world and available at a reported 4m-6m that the likes of Munich, Real, Barca, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, Athletico, Inter will all be clamouring for his signature at such a price?

Or do you think he will end up somewhere like Besiktas or Malaga? There is a reason he plays for Cardiff.

Or Valencia... One of Europes biggest clubs.

Is that the same Valencia that we stuffed 3-0 on their own ground last season?

You beating Valencia has nothing to do with it and they're light years ahead of you and ourselves.

yeah, because better, taller players have never been out jumped by cahill have they! :sleepy2:

Judging on cahills performance today your completely wrong and just guessing he has declined as a player. He's been brilliant.

Man City are champions of England, Valencia finished 10 points above their relegation zone just like we did.

According to tranfer market our total value of squad is £107 million as opposed to their £103m.

We beat them 3-1 overall over two games.

To suggest they are light years ahead of us is ridiculous.

Based on their distinctly average season last year it seems Medel is going to the right place :D

As a football club of course you are. They used to be regular in the champions league and have massive support.

Swansea would love to be in the same bracket as them. To suggest your anywhere near as big as Valencia is ridiculous.

They will be looking to get back into the champions league regularly and obviously see medel as someone who can help them.

Medel wont be signing for Valencia of 2000 he will be signing for the very average 2014 Valencia who are no better than Swansea, and in fact, probably worse.

When I'm talking about one of the biggest clubs in Europe of course were taking history into count.

Valencia is far more attractive proposition than Swansea that's for sure and I'm sure the majority of your players would be happy to leave Swansea for Valencia.

Especially if Sunderland are able to take such a prosperous clubs captain from them.

What's the relevance?

Valencia were cash strapped and had to sell. He had to join someone.

Gestede left us for Blackburn, did that make them a more attractive proposition than us at the time?

Fabregas has joined Chelsea, are Chelsea a better proposition than barca?

Medel joined us from Sevilla, are we a better option than Sevilla?

You didnt mention size at all. Leeds are huge, so what.

You compared yourselves beating Man City to us beating Valencia in saying "they are lightyears ahead of us".

We have a better and more valuable squad than Valencia and had similar finishes in our respective leagues. They are an average side. Like I said, the Valencia of 2000 arent wanting to sign Medel - the Valencia side if 2014 do.

Read what I said again.

"Or Valencia... On of Europes biggest clubs"

There size of the club was exactly what I was talking about.

You beating them has no relevance. Valencia finished 8th in a strong la liga while Swansea finished 12th in a weak premier league. Possibly the weakest it has been in a long time.

:D funny the Premier League is always weak and the respective other league majorly strong when it suits

Well if you are genuinely talking about size then your argument is all sorts of wrong. Would it suggest Medel is a good player if Leeds were in for him?

Being a big club based in former teams doesnt portray the quality of the current side, which is the one he will be playing on - and one which is less valuable than Swanseas.

3 la liga teams make European semi finals. 0 from England. 33 points was enough to stay in the premier league this year. Swansea finished on 42 which would usually be just enough to stay up. The season before last Valencia finished 5th in la liga. Hardly comparable to Leeds.

Keep telling yourself you're better than Valencia though based on "team value" and beating them once.

:D so you were talking about "better". Why argue?

Why are you taking the valencia squad of 3 seasons ago and crediting them with that same side now? The fact is WE ARE better than Valencia. We beat them 3-1 over 2 games and have a better squad on paper and on pitch

Funny you want to look at least seasons champions league results to judge a whole league (which is stupid in itself) yet get all uppity when looking at Valencia last season, a far more case specific focus than Real Madrid, Barca and Athletico (ironically none of which want Medel) :D

Its like saying 2 Ivory Coast players were in the top 10 goalscoring charts in the Premier league yet none from Argentina so Ivory Coast must be better as a nation.

No I was talking about bigger. If you read my statement you can see that. I'm now talking about better because you turned the topic into one of who is better. Don't know why you're trying to manipulate things.

Valencia are no doubt significantly weaker this year than they were 3 years ago as they did have to make many sales due to financial difficulty. I still think they're better. You beat them once, they beat you once. Over 2 games last season we beat Norwich. We finished below them and are worse though.

I don't think your better than Valencia on paper and the "squad valuation" you use is a load of tripe. The same report valued man city at around 400 mill. Toure, aguero, silva, dzeko and kompany alone would cost 200 mill.

nonsense, we were talking about average sides wanting him, its what the whole debate is about. Due to me proving that you can be an average side and still have past teams win big trophies you have now switched it back to "better" again - which is equally as stupid when you look at the two head to head results and the squads they both posses. :thumbright:

last year we stuffed them 3-0 away and should have beaten them home but lost narrowly 1-0min a situation where we needed 1 point from the next 3 to go through.

its not a load of tripe at all. The same criteria is used to value both sides so what they "would accept" is irrelevant. We have a better side on paper and also showed it on the pitch. We are better.

Let me guess.... Back to bigger then :laughing6:

Why are you trying to manipulate something so simple to be a smart ass? I clearly said "Valencia one of the biggest clubs in Europe." Nothing cryptic about that.

You then started talking to me about how you're better. That's when I started talking about I thought was better. You're very pedantic and have a strange need to be right over such trivial things.

A players value and what a club will accept are the same. If a club will sell a player for 60 million - that's his value.

Now I have seen cardiff in division 2 completely out play a premier league table topping Leeds utd. Did that make us better team than them? No. When you beat Valencia it was considered an upset - why? Because they're bigger and better.

It is my opinion that Valencia are bigger and better than Swansea and also a better proposition. Finishing higher in an arguably stronger league. If medel had the chance to join Valencia or Swansea, I don't think there would be a doubt as to where he would go.

Valencia are looking to get back to where they were and see medel as a player who can help them get there and move forward. He will be a very good player for them too just as he was for us and for Sevilla and he is for chile.

the whole debate is based on average teams pal. You are the one who decided to drop "big" into it for a fleeting second after you realised that Valencia arent actually very good.

A players value and what a club will accept are the same. If a club will sell a player for 60 million - that's his value.

nope. My house is valued at $550k - i would not accept that.

These players have been given a market value so the same "but we wouldnt accept that" argument can be played on both sides. All things being evaluated equally - Swansea have a more valuable side, which also showed over the two matches they played in the recent season.

Now I have seen cardiff in division 2 completely out play a premier league table topping Leeds utd. Did that make us better team than them? No. When you beat Valencia it was considered an upset - why? Because they're bigger and better.

when you beat Leeds they were a few devisions above you and their squad value was astronomically bigger. When we beat Valencia we had a more expensive squad, were both in the top league and both finishing similarly above the drop zones. Im amazed you are comparing the two.

When we beat them some considered it a shock result because they do what you do and go by name rather than quality of side :laughing6:

It is my opinion that Valencia are bigger and better than Swansea and also a better proposition. Finishing higher in an arguably stronger league. If medel had the chance to join Valencia or Swansea, I don't think there would be a doubt as to where he would go.

what you think is irrelevant. Their league position, results against similarly average premier league club and squad value PROVE otherwise. Medel would never get the chance to join us, due to the fact we have a better side than Valencia and dont want him.

Valencia are looking to get back to where they were and see medel as a player who can help them get there and move forward. He will be a very good player for them too just as he was for us and for Sevilla and he is for chile.

leeds are looking to get back to where they were too a but they still signed the likes of ross mccormack and lee trundle.

Valencia made 9 changes from the team that played the previous La Liga game.

played for over 80 minutes with a man short

finished 5 points above you at the top of the group

reached the quarter finals of the competition..........

No I was talking about bigger. If you read my statement you can see that. I'm now talking about better because you turned the topic into one of who is better. Don't know why you're trying to manipulate things.

nonsense, we were talking about average sides wanting him, its what the whole debate is about. Due to me proving that you can be an average side and still have past teams win big trophies you have now switched it back to "better" again - which is equally as stupid when you look at the two head to head results and the squads they both posses. :thumbright:

Valencia are no doubt significantly weaker this year than they were 3 years ago as they did have to make many sales due to financial difficulty. I still think they're better. You beat them once, they beat you once. Over 2 games last season we beat Norwich. We finished below them and are worse though.

last year we stuffed them 3-0 away and should have beaten them home but lost narrowly 1-0min a situation where we needed 1 point from the next 3 to go through.

I don't think your better than Valencia on paper and the "squad valuation" you use is a load of tripe. The same report valued man city at around 400 mill. Toure, aguero, silva, dzeko and kompany alone would cost 200 mill.

its not a load of tripe at all. The same criteria is used to value both sides so what they "would accept" is irrelevant. We have a better side on paper and also showed it on the pitch. We are better.

Let me guess.... Back to bigger then :laughing6:

Why are you trying to manipulate something so simple to be a smart ass? I clearly said "Valencia one of the biggest clubs in Europe." Nothing cryptic about that.

told you that you would go back to bigger

Bigger has naff all to do with anything. Leeds are huge and crap, so how is that in any way a counter to me saying only average sides are in for him?

Yep thats right, it isnt a counter at all :thumbright: .

I'm telling you they are bigger and better. They even finished above you in the group but I guess your still better. League tables don't lie...

But some website values their squad more than valencias so they must be better if that website said so

just went thru bad patch at time.
ps this was debated at time swans fans giving the big we are fantastic ect ect
