Finally a reasonable post. Unlike the drivel I just read from the no doubt cave dwelling, Anti-English moron that is Caeboy. The two world wars song is a football chant ffs.

Welsh not was a large contributor to the decline of Welsh but like you said it was the industial revolution that really killed it. S4C is a waste of tax payers money and has had appalling viewing figures. In our schools Welsh is being pushed to the moon and back yet there hasn't been a noticeable increase in the number of speakers. I have my grievances with the way Wales is being treated by Westminster but one of them is not the language which has had no part of my life. I want it to thrive in the Fro but beyond that is there a point?

appriciate what you're saying, and if wales was just S.E. Wales then i'd probably agree, but north, west and mid wales have many more welsh speakers.

just because it has had no part of YOUR life (or many in our area) that doesnt mean it isn't a big part of many peoples lives in other areas of wales

That is fine. I'm not asking people to cheer them on. It is just the hatred for the English goes way deeper than sport imo.

Some people have genuine grievances with the English and that is okay, but alot just seem to be based on nothing.

How anyone would want some scummy Italians or the Uruguayans to beat the English is beyond me. Yes England would be unbearable if they got far in it, but the vast majority of people will be okay about it.

When foreigners look at England, a lot of them see the Union Jack. A lot of the English out there have Union jacks flags. For that reason I hope they have a decent tournament but I hope they don't win it. If the English fans can accept us and take flags that represent us, surely we can show them a little respect.

Either way, I don't really mind if you hate them. When we go back to hearing anti-Welsh songs at the CCS, I will probably hate them.

I said I wanted it to thrive in those areas mate but I don't have any feelings regarding the language. It is not up to the likes of me and you who live in English speaking Wales to keep the language alive it's up to those who live in Welsh speaking areas. The people speaking Welsh or at least learning Welsh is on the up in Cardiff but declining in West and North Wales as they have ignored those areas.

then why make a post about a small minority of people? (which it wasnt in the OP)

says it all though if your hiding behind a multi to get your point across

Re: England at the World Cup

It is just my opinion.

I think that quite alot of people in Wales, that have no interest in football and some that do, have a genuine hatred towards England. That is what I have said previously. Not sure why I need to repeat it, it was quite clear in my first post.

Does 'some' mean a minority? I think there are quite alot of people that fall into this bracket.

I don't play these little gay forum games with 'multis'. If I wanted that I join club penguin.

it is a minority though. and as the Above Poster said, you have this problem with people being anti english but all italians are scummy?

and your "i cannot confirm or deny" comment clearly shows you had a username before this one, or else you would have just said "nope, new to the forum" or something along those lines.

bottom line, you can't seem to decide what your saying about people being anti english, i say dont generalise and you say "im not saying its everyone" but in the next breath its not a minority either.
and the less said about your "if it werent for the english" comment in the OP the better, its clear you've had a mare there and by this forums standards you've actually got off lightly.

I work around the uk on occasions, inspecting or teaching or assessing renewable energy installers and insulation trades.

There is a fair bit of casual racism floating around to us welsh.
From English, Irish and Scottish.
It's really the only racism left to be open about!

There are also good people too.

My view is that we in wales have the tools to out perform the many
Bloodsuckers and cheat societies scattered around England and Scotland.

We just have fukwits in charge here.

I'm pro welsh but if you are good and decent enough, there is no preferential treatment that
I give, whether, welsh, English, Scottish or Irish

I support Cardiff City and wales, no one else.
Win, lose or draw, I have no interest in any other home nation team.

'Two world wars and World Cup' is a football chant that exposes the jingoism that accompanies the Ingurland football supporters. They seem to hate every other nation and feel superior to all. I've got no reason to consider Uruguayans or Italian to be scummy as some on here do. I do though dislike this attitude of the England supporters though. I have no reason to support them.

These links probably begin to explain my grievances.

I asked why is there hatred towards england, not the italians.

England are part of Britain and I've said why I'll get behind them.

I didn't complain about people hating other countries. England is what I started the thread about.

There is deep ingrained hatred of England in south wales, by some people that base it on nothing. That is all I was getting at.

An observation, not attacking anyone in particular.

How would you like them to behave then? Like Cardiff City supporters? We better stop singing "Always shit on the English side of the bridge" and "England is full of shit" then. Don't bring Mikey Dyes death into this and make a ridiculous point of it, that incident doesn't mean we have to tar the entire English football fanbase (Which includes a lot of our players) as horrible human beings. Do you consider English people as scummy then?

I can't fathom why anyone would want England to succeed myself, but each to their own.

I'm sure alot of people that have posted hateful comments have perfectly legitimate reasons for hating our cousins across the way. If you would like to reply and tell me what has happened in your life for you to hate England. Gloating about sport aside, as every single country does it. I'm sure alot of it comes down to "Ummmm I dunno, just hate the english dun I?" "My father hated em so I will aswell".

Don't talk to me about tyranny, you love other countries that have carried out ethnic cleansing countless times.

70 years on from D-Day. Thousands of English people died to protect our country and the rest of the allies. Thousands of women and children lost husbands and fathers fighting for the right for you talk absolute shit about their country. Thousands of Welsh people fought with those English people, dying together.

All those moving moments last week?. Forgotten already.

If it wasn't for the English, you'd be speaking f*cking German.

nothing wrong with speaking German... ;)

but seriously: what has football to do with d-day and WWII?

Wales isn't represented in the Union Jack, only St. George, St. Andrew & St. Patrick . If you will insist on reading the sun newspaper you're going to get a very Anglicised perspective!

You come to quite alot of conclusion there about me. I'm all for keeping the Welsh language alive.

All I said was that I will be hope England have a decent tournament and put forward my reasons for why I think there should be more support in south wales for them.

My mother is English and all of her side are. Maybe that is why I have an affiliation towards them. But, even people that have no blood link, they seem to forget that we are a 40 minute drive away from them. We are closer than they think and throughout their lives they will meet a load of nice English people. It isn't just a sport rivalry imo.

Scotland can become independent, I don't think we could though. We would be bankrupt within a year and we are too intertwined with England, in all aspects of our lives.

If you want England to lose, carry on, that is your choice.

I'm just going to enjoy the tournament agenda free, just like I do every other 4 years. It's a long time to wait to sit there hating something.Come on England, Come on Holland and Come on the Ivory Coast. If Wales ain't there then I'll be supporting and cheering on the next best thing or country that I can relate to just like every other World Cup.It's easy to hate them when we are so shite and non-productive ourselves but it just wreaks of jealousy to me and I can't think of any reason not to support them.If we'd have qualified, can you imagine what we'd be like if the English supported Spain or Italy and not us.They'd rise above it and be cheering us on whoever we played, apart from if we played eachother, of course.

Just enjoy it,it promises to be a great world cup
