Only countries with a football tradition, and the stadia and infrastructure, should get the greatest sporting event of all, the World Cup.

Absolutely. Russia and Qatar ffs.

Italia 90. The whole thing was awesome, esp Pavarotti singing Nessum Dorma. The opening sequence for TV was amazing lol

and i love all the world cups

The best side that never won the World Cup. Whenever I see highlights of that Italy game it almost brings a tear to my eye. Brazil were magical in that tournament and they're my favourite team of all time. Espana 82 is also my favourite tournament, nothing has compared since, though Mexico 86 comes close.
What mystifies me is how many people enjoyed Italia90, don't get me wrong the tournament had some great stories, Cameroon, Roger Milla, the Riykaard/Voller spitting incident and Maradona infuriating the Italians,by claiming that Naples is hated by the rest of Italy and should get behind Argentina. But by and large the football was dross, the goals per game ratio was the lowest in World Cup history and was a big reason why Fifa brought in the back pass rule a couple of years later, the final was also absolutely dreadful, with the Argies stinking the place out with their negative, intimidating tactics. Along with South Africa 2010, Italia90 remains the worst World Cup I've seen and I've seen everyone since Argentina 78.

i also remember an incredible amount of play acting in that world cup too.. i might be wrong but i believe it was the reason why injured players have to leave the pitch after treatment..
