Next season we will have one of the strongest midfields in the Championship - Whitts, Mutch, Daehli, Noone etc.

With Ole's attacking style of play we are going to create a ton of chances.

ALF's playing style is that out of a poacher, he will always be in and around the box waiting for an opportunity. He will not lack of them next season!

I think he is an improvement on some of our strikers because he has done it at PL level, 12 goals (many from the bench) in 12/13 season. Campbell only managed 6 league goals last season, Maynard or Mason have never really played at PL level, Guerra is untried in English football and Macheda hasn't done much in the PL either.

He isn't a superstar, but he might be the fox in the box our team needs. How many times last season did we have no-one in the box? That won't be the case with ALF in the team!

Footballer enjoying his summer break before knuckling down for pre season shocker. Maynard has not had a proper run in a team since leaving Bristol City. He started well for us, had a horrendous injury and hasn't been given a chance since. Even at Wigan, Rosler played with one up front and used Maynard as an impact sub most of the time. If Maynard has a full pre season to get fit and is given a run in the team at Championship level, he will play well, score goals and look well worth the 2.75 million we paid for him.

Over his last 3 seasons he has scored 6 goals, yes 6! It's time for him to move on, he is gone to sluggish and is not the player he used to be. He has been poor in both his seasons in the prem with west ham and cardiff, that is why he has not played because he is not up to to it. For me guerra, Macheda and Campbell will do the job in the champ no need for Maynard, he offers fucall these days.

Well lets hope we score straight from kick off then because you havent named one person in that midfield who can tackle

I can not take most on here that serious where strikers are concerned
look what most were saying about rudy gestede
and look how he finished up last season
and we fu..ing gave him away :bluescarf: :ole: :ole:
at least I was consistant in my support of him and still believe he will get even better :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :ole: :ole:

I would agree that a defensive minded midfielder should be a priority for us this summer, unless Medel somehow stays.

It's gutting that we don't have Gestede now that we are back down. Him and Rhodes could well lead Blackburn back to the big time next season, hopefully not at our expense.

Le Fondre has a better scoring record than Mason and Maynard and has proven he can cut it at the top level.

What part of "Maynard has not had a proper run in a team since leaving Bristol City" didn't you understand? In his first 2 games for us, he had an assist in what was probably the best goal of that season when he ran down the right and pulled it across to Whitts to fire into the bottom corner, then he won a penalty in his second game. Then at Millwall, he had his horrendous injury and hasn't been given a run in the team since. Like I said, if Maynard is given a regular run of games this season after a full pre season to get his old sharpness back, he will be like a new signing and prove to be a much better striker than Macheda and Le Fondre.

First thing Maynard needs to do if he wants a chance is get himself fit enough. Wigan fans said he was well off the pace for the majority for them.

Well apparently Le Fondres biggest gripe at Reading and one of the reasons for not signing a new contract is his lack of starts so I dont think hes coming here expecting to be an impact sub.

He had a full pre season last year and was still overweight and sluggish. That's why he was bombed out. It sounds as if he carried on in the same way at Wigan. Time for him to go.

Re: LE FONDRE

One thing is for sure.

The strike rates of all 3 are excellent.

Le Fondre - one every 151 minutes
Macheda - one every 169 minutes

Guerra 9th top scorer in the best league on earth, with 6 of those in front of him being from the 'big 3 in la Liga'.

Be disappointed if this lot don't get 35 goals between them, and as it stands we have Campbell, Jones, Mason and Maynard as well !!

Only downside is none of these new signings seem to score too highly on assists. ;)
