I remember back in about 1987 - me and my mate (RIP) went for a curry in Canton - he always used to say he loved hot curry as it blew his sinuses out !!! - anyway asked the waiter what was his hottest curry and the waiter said "CEYLON" - (but I would not recommend it for you Sir).

He said, ok, I will have a Ceylon - (i had a madras - hot enough for me)

When he got about 2 mouthfuls of his Ceylon down - I swear there was fire coming out of his ears - nose running, eye balls red !!! I tried a teaspoon of it - holy shit, it was like gunpowder.

If Ceylon is the same strength now (not modified for western tastes) - I would not recommend it.

Oh by the way my mate passed away in 2012 - it was not the Ceylon Curry that killed him - just thought I better clear that up as I know what some of you lot are like on here !!!

Our local in tonypandy does a very nice one, very hot but also a nice sweetness to it at the same time so a nice combination

Is that the one on the main road, opposite where the co-op used to be or the restaurant 'prince of bengal' ......The one on the main road does a really nice madras and vindaloo...The one in Hannah street, Porth, does a nice tikka massalla but not so good hotter curry

That's the one! I went for a meal in the one in proth and one of the guys we went with and to have his curry toned down quite a few times because he couldn't cope, but my prawn ceylon was rather powerful too.

Have you tried Wonderful up by the DeWinton for a chinese?

No but I've heard really good things about it...I think it was on the Just eat website where every review was a really positive one. I live near Ferndale so it's not too far, so I will try this very soon..let you know what I think then :thumbright: (I haven't tried the restaurant in Porth ..I was talking about the take away...really nice it is

I´ve tried most indian curry pastes, and my favourites are Vindaloo and Garam Masala. Both hot, if you can tolerate it.
