Very arrogant person and awful manager , the further away from the club he is the better !
Not sure what you are confused about ?
He took wolves up with a big budget then got immediately relegated
He had big budgets compared to other teams every year at cardiff and couldn't get the job done
He blew the fa cup final by not having the bollocks to play younger hungrier players like Ramsey
He lost 2/3 play offs with poor tactics and team selections
He blew the play off final again with poor team selection and defensive tactics
He ever had a plan b , if we went behind , we pretty much lost
He took sheff wed up with a decent team and budget then failed the year after .
In nearly 25 years as a manager he has only won 3 honours , 1 play off winner and 2 runners up medals .
He's got more p45s than honours .
His win % as a manager is 40% , nearly always in lower divisions
In my eyes he's a poor manager
Plus the fact he chose to take to the golf course instead of taking training sessions and his teams were always a soft touch which never had the guts, fight, passion, spirit or battling qualities to deliver success in the Championship. Despite us having the best team on paper by a mile for some games, we still rolled over under Jones if the opposition wanted it more. Can anyone remember us coming back from behind to win under Jones, because I can't!
if it was the best team by a mile...he did a fantastic job with no money.......surely
He said the best team on paper, they certainly weren't out on the pitch. Overall, Dave Jones was better than most managers I've seen at the club, but there's an awful lot of looking through rose tinted spectacles in this thread. During the latter years of his time in charge with us, you could talk about a team "doing a Cardiff" and people would know what you meant - we bottled it when it came to the end of the season, just like his Wolves side which blew promotion when something like ten points clear did in 2002.
I also remember having to write off the month of November every season while Dave Jones was in charge - God knows why, but our record in that month was appalling under Jones.
Never forgave him for the boro game we lost three nil. The team trained twice in eight days leading up to that game whilst he hit the vale golf course daily.
It was a well known fact back then that burton and Bellamy took training during the week whilst he watched from the sidelines or improved his handicap and he only got involved to pick the team on a Friday afternoon.
It was Bellamy who convinced the Malaysians that he was not the man to take us forward.

Took us from relegation candidates to a promotion chasers year on year with no money and one hand tied behind his back, constatntly selling his best players.
Lesser managers would have crumbled, not got us knocking on the door to the PL.
However, its time to look forward not back.
OGS needs a summer transfer window before being hung out to dry.

not all managers are hands on in training.................in fact most are not,its why you have coaches, the boro result, dissapointing as it was , was always coming Steve just like Liverpool losing Sunday to a below full stength Chelsea ,good runs end...........and it was a hell of a run.....we sacked a manager that had lost only 4 in his last 22, and remarkably replaced him with a fella that had managed 4 wins in 21..............yes it had Bellers written all over it......reality check here..how many managers would HE have had sacked over the years if he had as much influence at other clubs as he had here?..i think Hughes would survive, the rest would be gone.........
as for the best TEAM ON PAPER { not your remark, but an earlier one } best 11 maybe, but never the cash to be the best squad........and we should never have had the best 11 either for what was being sold and bought.......he sold 11 durring his time here that would deffo be the best and most expensive 11.......and infact those sales kept us afloat for years.......the boro game?..grow up

Ah I see what you've done - you are comparing the last twenty two matches of the manager who consistently failed to get us over the promotion line (I notice you conveniently don't include the pathetic Play Off defeat by Reading in Dave Jones' final match in charge so as to make his figures look better), with the last twenty one games of the man who took us up as Champions. Of course, Jones' last twenty two matches were all played in the Championship and were all fully competitive games because the squad (not team) he had were not running away with the league like so many media pundits said they would.
On the other hand, Malky Mackay's last twenty one matches included three draws after the promotion that Dave Jones couldn't deliver had been won and then seventeen matches at a higher level than we ever played at under him (I also notice you conveniently don't include cup wins in your breakdown of Malky Mackay's results so as to make his record look worse).
Talk about comparing like with like.

We played some great stuff in the Championship under Jones but we had a leaky defence. We played clubs off the pitch at times and won 3-1 and 4-0 for fun at times too. They were great games. For all the stick Bothroyd got too he was better than Cornelius, Jones and Gestede combined.
Dave Jones would take us straight back up. Please come home you stubborn and miserable git!!![]()

CF47 BLUEBIRD wrote:How anyone can compare Malkys promotion season with any of DJ's "like for like" is beyond me.
Malky spent £45m, yes FOURTY FIVE MILLION, on transfers and wages last season.
If Jones had been given that budget then maybe we can compare like-for-like.

nope you dont see..........you need a trip to spec savers with the striker magnet makay.........i compared jones l;ast 22 l;eague games of his last season with every other championship manager that year.........we employed the one with the worse record..a brick layer named malky...........build a wall build it high and leave them attack...was like watching a cross between zulu and groundhog day for two years.............have a good look..our squad is poor..and he is to blame..............
i do see wat you try to do though.......you sang the silly song and now feel a pilchard didnt you?
