Used to like Sunderland until

They are unimportant in the scheme of things nowadays, they used to be a massive club. I remember back in the 80's the Grange (without the roof) being solid red and white, probably 8~10K. That would have been in the second tier.

Sadly the North East is a redundant part of the UK now and slowly dying. Cardiff did well in reinventing itself 20 years ago.

It was 1980 and they needed a win to secure promotion from the old Division 2. They brought about 10k down, it's the most I've ever seen from an away club at Ninian Park, they had to delay kick off to let them all in. It was 1-1 in the end, but they got promotion in their next game.
