I don't buy this target man rubbish! U only need one of them if u want to play hoofball and lump it up there.. West ham style!

Hardly any of the top ten play with a big target man!

My opinion Kenwyne Jones was a massive mistake and if we stay up, no for next season, if we go down, perfect for the Championship, but wages of course way to high though, £37,000 a week.

If Kenwyne Jones was still good enough for the Premier League, I reckon Tony Pulis would of taken him to Crystal Palace.

I personally rate Odemwingie

I would like to get a little deeper into this topic than just saying which one i prefer.

Odemwingie: 32 years old.

Cost: 2,5mill but would raise to 4mill during on clauses in the contract such as games played.
Wage: 38K in WBA, dont know how much he had with us.

Jones 29 years old

Cost: Swap with Odemwingie
Wage: 37k is reported, i cannot verify that but should be close to Odemwingie.

Conclusion: We did not get a higher wage bill than we would had if we kept Odemwingie

GOALS SCORED:

Stats dont consider how often you get subbed on or of or how the club has used you so i found a nice goals pr minute record that goes from the 10/11 season until now for both strikers and it includes Odemwingies goals for Stoke and Jones goal for us:

Odemwingie: 8481 minutes played/38 goals = 1 goal every 223 minutes
Jones: 6269 minutes played/ 22 goals = 1 goal every 285 minutes

Record for City: Odemwingie: 801 minutes/ 1 goal Jones: 540 minutes/ 1 goal

Conclusion: Odemwingies stats shows that he scores more often than Jones do.

Contributions on the pitch:

Odemwingie can be used as winger but as most of us saw, it is not his position and he was not happy out there so i would say that we only had use of Odemwingie as a striker.
In defence he offers nearly nothing and we saw that in the last match when Dæhli made him look like a amateur player.

Jones cant be used in other positions than the striker role.
In defence we get lots of benefits from the big man. In the last match i noticed the commentators talking about how Jones had not scored the goals that people hoped but the praised him for the endless amounts of corners and set pieces he had gotten out of the box at the end of matches.

Conclusion: Jones offers us more on the pitch than Odemwingie does because of his size and role on defensive set pieces.

My verdict is that we did a good desicion when we swapped the players.

Odemwingie was a form player, he either performed or was totally out of it. Mostly he was out of it for us and he would never been chosen infront of Campbell which is the reason i believe Ole got rid of him.

Jones does not move as much as Odemwingie but if we look at how he holds up the ball, allows us to move up the field when he meets the ball and how he get set pieces away from our box in defence i believe that he offers us alot more than what we would had if we kept Odemwingie as the alternative to Campbell.

We are quick to slaughter players without thinking about what system we play, what other options we got in the squad and how they have performed after the swap was done. I hope this post gave a little insight in the difference in quality between the players.

Should have bought Finnbogasson and then kept Gestede.

Finbogasson and Campbell up top. If its not working plan B and bring on Gestede.

The lack of quality striker is probably going to see us down.

We wouldn't be in this mess if Malky didn't blow 8.5m on a bloke who made both players look like Pele. Odemwingie was awful for us and we rightfully sold him. Jones is playing better than PO was for us.

Odemwingie didn't like it here under malky by the time ole came in PO was unsettled and wanted to go back to that area. Stoke wanted rid of Jones so the swap was best for both at that time.. hindsight is a wonderful thing and another thing PO's wages were similar to Jones's so equally to much for the championship if he had stayed and we go down so non story really

What absolute bollocks - Odemwingie loved it here in Cardiff

He recently did an interview saying how he was surprised OGS didn't want him due to his poor defensive game but he loves it in Cardiff and May want to return to live in the future

It was OGSs decision to let him go - Any excuse to have a pop at Malky

Yes, and this is why! Posted this quote from OGS earlier, but it got deleted and i got banned for it. Guess it didnt suit the discussion to get some real reasons for a change. Odemwingie left for Daelhi, simple as that.

Saturday showed that Odemwinghie is an attacking threat - 2 decent shots and one penalty gained but didn't do any work for the team defensively.

It also showed how blunt Jones is. He was on for 10 minutes or so, and spent most of the time nowhere near the box. Agree he is a passenger.

Well then i don't see the problem to be honest. Daehli has already made more of an impact than Odemwingie and is clearly gonna be a much much better footballer than Peter not to mention he is about 15 years younger. No offence to Odemwingie i think he is a decent footballer but he wasn't showing any of that with us so i find it pointless to cry over this one. He wasn't producing the goods under Malky or OGS.

Re: ' Interesting Debate '

Kenwynne (the Passenger) Jones!
As I have said many times, I dont mind any player who gives 100%. Whether good bad or indifferent, you can only do your best.
Jones has some merits but patently does not give it his all. He has a poor strike record. I think that keeping/ playing Cornelius would have been a better bet, but obviously MM paid way way over the odds for him in fee and salary.
That said - hope KJ plays out of his skin for the next few games...... and goes on a (highly unlikely) scoring spree.
