I can assure you things like this happen at almost every club across the country. It doesnt concern me, disappoints me to hear sure, but doesnt worry me.

Our 1-0 defeat with 10 men against Chelsea was certainly mot a squad split on the field. Not many of the trouble makers play in fairness.

No, he was always one earmarked to take over Leons role as he is getting on a bit, but its not an easy task to replace such class - and he hasnt been able to do it as well as him. Thats not an insult.

My point was he was no worse than Medel - which he isnt. (Yet £12m cheaper)

Medel was 8 million. Canas was a free but but would have had a large signing on fee. If the club boot him out or transfer lst him they will have to pay his contract up. If he's on 20k a week that's 2 million for jacks to stump up. He's hardlybsetbpremier league alight so not many clubs would want him. May not be as cheap as you thought.

That was your initial point which then escalated to you making out he was better than both Medel and Britton.

What happened to that stats thread you were going to update every week on the three of them? Didnt suit its original agenda?

Well we arent going to sack him. His signing on fee wouldnt have been astronomical, we dont do that. 300k maybe.

He will be moved on, whether thats for free or a nominal fee I couldnt tell you.

But 300k for a defensive midfielder in a season where we needed all the quality bodies we could get is as cheap as chips.

Nope, I have already proved I didnt think it was value for money but after that argument we were then judging on ability and performances, or in your case "stats". In terms of ability, at time of said thread, Gary was also looking like a great signing, putting in several MOTM performances, little was I to know he would have the stamina of a pub player and run out of puff in November.

May be more costly than that. Not in a financial sense but in long term stability of club. One of the key parts of jacks success has been team spirit. Once team spirit is broken it is difficult to get back. If Williams was involved he may think its time to move on and if 6 or 7 others go getting replacements may prove difficult.

Equally if jacks go down (big if) then a big reason will be signing the likes of canas who has had a destabilising effect on squad. How costly would that be?

You were loving him, remember how class he was because he played for Chile  he was average at the time too as the stats showed.

Like i said, this sort of thing goes on in every training ground - ask Craig Bellamy. :D

I dont think our success has ever had anything to do with team spirit. We had our most successful year last year which was when the nonsense started.

Williams wont ever leave IMO, he is mulling over talking with the club to take a contract to tie him to the club to the end of his career. I dont think we will ever receive an offer worthy of accepting due to him entering his 30's and the "smaller" club he plays for.

The squad is very together, there is a breakaway faction however. Most of which do not play anyway.

Ye, like Palace with who?. Stoke with who?. Fulham with who?. Villa? Norwich with who?. WBA with who?. Sunderland with Lee cattermole

Swansea with the mighty leon britton who is now past it.

Medel would start for Swansea, as he will do for Chile in the World Cup.

19th

Britton is not much higher than Medel in these rankings, which questions how is he "class"?

Lucas Leiva is 3rd FFS and hes hardly barely started a game since Xmas.

Hes started just 50% of Liverpools games.

Because form is temporary class os permanent. This season has been difficult due to European excursions and the attemoted introduction of Canas which didnt allow Britton continuity of games for large periods of this season. Him, like Swansea as a whole have not shown their best in the league this year - but it was always a sacrifice we were happy to take after a rare European foray.

Medel has never shown anything more in the Prem than what he has this season for obvious reasons.

Which was why it is from Feb. at the time he had played the most games in DMC than any other Liverpool player. It may have changed since, i havent checked. Although id be happy to wager that Lucas' replacement still has a much higher rating that Medel, so does it really matter?

Unfair to judge one on form and one on past successes.

Either both on this season, where they have been performing equally, or both in past successes too.

In the interests of fairness, I'd suggest performances in this seasons, as it's most relevant & both have performed pretty equally, going by these stats.

Makes me wonder how poor Canas is, if he's worse than Britton.

im not, i judged them all on the same criteria - performances this season.

You asked me why I feel Britton is class.

That is my answer, which is completely separate from the table I posted.

goes to show that stats arent always the be all and end all. a lot of the names on the list arent even like-for-like players, Medel is good enough to play in a lot of these sides imo.

I said the stats showed (past tense) him to be 19th out of 20. These were stats i posted 2 months ago and was referring to those exact same stats.

Are you suggesting that Medel has gone up then? :laughing6:
