Being the only team within 100 miles that has Premier League football amd with an expansion to fill on the horizon.... It makes business sense.

That's fine, but the extension on the CCS is already taking shape while there isn't even a bag of cement outside The Liberty Stadium. We will have a much needed increased capacity in August.

Financially, we are sound now with the promise of debt-free status on our horizon. :notworthy:

I dont quite know where to start with that. :D

1. If you go down (which looks likely) the extension will be a big echoing white elephant.

2. You are about as far from financially sound as you could wish to be :D

We aren't down yet and Swansea aren't totally safe, although I appreciate the odds are that we could slip through. Even if we do go through a one-year consolidation period before returning to the top flight, we have a huge dang base to call upon so the white elephant may have plenty of passengers!

I know we aren't financially sound in fact but there is the strong possibility of a written off debt in the near future.

Do you think Newcastle would throw the game against us to send Sunderland down?

I really think if we beat palace we will have a great chance as it will give us some momentum and belief. It's between us, WBA, Norwich and palace for the last spot. Why not?

Fulham have a few decent games coming up..

Stable as in proved you are good enough to stay up for a few years and post the necessary profit meaning you can fund it without loans.

That covers a lot more than the top 6.

To expand when you are in the financial mess you are and in a season where you never looked like staying up is lunacy.

As much as it hurts - I think Dimi has a point

We are Cardiff City...We do things differently to you bunch down the road. We got dreams ambitions and a vision and we believe in it, that's why we are expanding even though we are probably dropping to championship. That decision shows how confident we are and I believe we will be top 6 in 15 years time. You watch us chase our dreams and fulfill them.

If the fair play rules are adhered to and monitored properly the fact we will have a opportunity to fill 33000 in to our ground will help us. you like I don't know how much can be generated from non match day revenue and can speculate about how long it will take to payback the expansion but having seen for myself the liberty packed out with businesses filling out your main stands hospitality boxes and suites it is fair to assume that with facilities on both sides of our ground in a far more prosperous city then it will generate a tidy sum The fact you are not doing it is only down to your prudent chairman who probably thinks it's not that beneficial to take on a expansion while you dont own your ground. If it was up to a lot of your supporters you would have extended a few months after you were averaging 13000. Every time you mention the expansion it stinks of envy.

That sort of thinking was what got us into the mess we're in now!

Why would envy come into it? I dont think anybody would have wanted us to expand until we needed to or until it looked worthwhile and sustainable. Fair play rules mean nothing unless you fill the seats but the realistic thing to think is the current stadium will too big for you for the forseeable future. It isnt easy getting out of the championship as you know and with the uncertain financial future it seems complete madness.

The fact we havent done it is simoly due to us not prioritising it. We have decided that investment in the playing squad to have a side worthy of competing in the top half is the most important thing and then naturally as a result expand when we can. That is by far and away the most sensible approach an not prudent as such, just not reckless.

Again, hospitality box sales are a pittance. It would barely register.

Absolutely. Ideas above your station is what springs to mind and wanting to get them wothout working for it and thus willing to hamstring the club as a result.

Silly.

If I was a Swansea fan who travelled to Sunderland on the final day(usually earlier/late kick offs) I'd be quite pissed knowing my team were gonna lose and I was spending hard earned cash watching them play

True bu then imagine the cheers when your score comes through and you are relegated. All the Sunderland fans buying the beers all night and the sound of "the scum are going down" ringing across the n east.
