It was the same down here with Hereford and Shrewsbury.A couple of times they turned up announced and headed for the North Bank.Good set of lads both sides on their day.

 Hereford and Shrewsbury heading for the North Bank? You sure fingers?

Anyway, first experience, QPR 80/81 at home. My mate got arrested. Well known bloke, but I will never EVER divulge his name on here! :laughing6:

Edit: Sorry I thought you meant the first time involved. First time witnessed was Cardiff V Man Utd, and Wales v Yugoslavia.

Gar,I remember Shrewsbury (30) of them making their way to the ground from the train station and up towards the NB.They didn't last long.Same with hereford.I'm sure we had a right tear up with them outside the ground.Good little mob they were but our numbers took care of them.Very early 90's i think.Maybe a Jack with a better memory than me who didn't indulge in as many substances as me back then might recall it better but i'm sure it happened.

I used to climb up into the steel rafters on the grange end roof with other kids. It would kick off regularly with Llanrumney v valley boys and Barry fighting aswell. No place for a kid at the back of the grangend. Old bill used to come over and try and restore order. Fair play old bill had some arse ole in them days. I remember 3 big fat Wolves fans stood their ground calling on City fans and to my amazement they got clumped but still were calling it on laughing as the plod took them out. Man utd my old man forbid me to go but I still went. As many have said it was a riot all day . Tottenham was another early eye opener with them standing outside the grangend and they were organised. I remember some big black guy in the road with a dust bin lid. I got out of the way when it kicked off. . I thought to myself that was great   I used to tag along with the Llanrumney boys and get chuffed when they they used to say alright son. Walking down Sloper road everyone singing and waiting for the away fans by Ninian holt. Sirens going and police dogs barking and trying to avoid getting crushed. I remember Millwall about 77/78 roughly came in a night game. Only about 80 of them with quite a few wearing surgical masks and gowns  Even the word Millwall was enough to make the collars on your Ben Sherman curl up! In them days. They got stuck into the old bill to get at Cardiff and it went right off by the Ninian. Ah the adrenalin rush was the drug in those days

the tottenham game you talk about brings back memories. On the same day a load of cardiff and a lot of rugby lads went to lords to watch glamorgan in the gillette cup final. we were waiting at paddington station for the three special trains to fetch us home when the tottenham football special pulled into one of the platforms.
spoke to a spurs fan years later and he said it took a long time to live down the embarrasment of being legged everywhere by a cricket mob

My first was in mid 70's as a child. Together with my father when two sides had a go. I remember one of them running after a yellow old ford. Just as he was kicking the tail light in, the car stops, breaking every bone in his foot. I understood even at that age that these guys are going nowhere..

Wales W.Germany about 76 a friendly apparently there was a German ship down the docks and some of the crew made the mistake of going on the old Grange end. The first time Cardiff involved was Palace home about 78 when Cardiff was in the away end sporadic fighting all first half eventually the law moved the Palace fans into the Canton stand. All very exciting for a youngster.

1969/1970 ish City v Villa. F***ing hundreds of Villa skinheads in the middle of the Grange End all game. It was going off for 90 minutes, well 85 minutes because they left just before the end and waited outside the exit in Sloper Road. Me and my old man ran for our lives down NP Road and all the way back to the station. No old bill/no stewards/no segregation in those days, just carnage with both sets of supporters kicking the shite out each other. That was about the first season of the "skins" and the Villa mob was the first lot I'd ever seen.
