i thought it had just evolved with the TV rights getting bigger and bigger and the importance of the fans getting less as the percentage of turnover brought in by us got less..........1991? was that the first SKY tv deal

91/92 is when the big 5 and their followers broke away from the FA and formed the premier league under Murdochs giant sky deal. League Football left terrestrial TV and has only been on satelitte since. That was the birth of the modern football era. Taken away from the masses.

The first PL winners were in 93,how does 1991 even come into it?

This is brilliant news for Hull City, the football authorities at last standing up to mad owners who want to strip clubs of their proud heritage and tradition, next for Hull could have been a badge change or even a shirt colour change, really pleased for Hull city fans, and they have PL team to support and look forward to next season in the best league on the world with all the benefits that brings as well :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:

Makes me chuckle when people say "against modern football" when modern football started before they were born and they have never experienced anything but modern football to be able to draw a comparison.

Do you do anything other than argue with people on this forum? I was taken to my first game as a 4 year old. The OP could also have been taken to his first game as a 4 year old and if so, would have experienced watching us in the bottom tier when Sam Hammam bought us. The OP is old enough to have watched our revival from the bottom tier to the Premiership, so could be able to draw a comparison perfectly. Just saying!

Modern football began in 1991. He wasnt born, but thanks for your, yet again, irrelevant response.

Where have I argued?

How was it born in 1991 Craig?

I said further up

Hull owner Allam repeats threat to walk away after FA back fans' battle against name change

Hull City fans are celebrating after winning their first victory in the battle to keep the club name but vowed to carry on their fight.
On Monday night the FA confirmed that their membership committee will recommend the FA Council reject a proposal from owner Assem Allam to change the club name to Hull Tigers next season.
But the move prompted the Egyptian-born millionaire to reiterate his intention to walk away from the club if his proposed name-change is unsuccessful.

No surprise there. The football league officially own all of the team domain names in the football league that end with fc.co.uk. Ours for example is cardiffcityfc.co.uk. The domain names will always state the team name and have fc.co.uk after them. Some of the domain names such as cardiffcity.co.uk without the fc in the title can be purchased and registered by private individuals.
The reason the league has purchased these domains is to retain ownership and to prevent the commercial exploitation of the football league teams. It is therefore no suprise that a name change would be kicked out by the league and is one in the eye for owners and is a reminder that there are limits on what they can and cannot do with a club.
I myself own several domains featuring the name cardiff dragons in various forms which will hopefully prevent Tan from a name change in the future. :ayatollah:

Hull City supporters have warned owner Assem Allam not to bank on season ticket holders voting for his proposed name-change after City accused the Football Association of being prejudiced in its dealings.

What I mean with "Against Modern Football" is when pity foreign owners buy football clubs who have no respect for football fans by stripping away tradition, heritage & identity. All about commercial & marketing, that's not what the game is about. :thumbright:

Some would sell out for thr price of a free scarf. on the other hand I might be tempted to give them away but only to someone who would use them to promote our quest for a return to blue.
