No one is saying stop supporting City (loving the child). You can still support City wearing blue. You don’t have to wear red.
But, you can hate Tan for changing the colour (the person that disfigured the child).

In this hypothetical scenario, the people who wear red are basically still loving their disfigured child but at the same time telling the evil man who disfigured your child “Hey don’t worry about it, it’s fine, I don’t really care! Why don’t you come round my house and I’ll cook you a slap up meal, and because we’re such good buddies you can even sleep with my wife.”

Isn't it an analogy? A hypothetical question is taken as literally would you still love a disfigured child

I don't think it's an analogy because your're using something else to directly replace it. It's more a metaphor because the meaning is still the same.

If that child was paying more attention to another family from Malaysia, (one of which caused the disfigurement) than his own family who have been there since day one then it's hard. You'll always love them, but the relationship will never be the same. :ayatollah:

if there were a procedure that could fix your child and make them recognisable again,, but the hospital refused to undertake the procedure, would you fight for it by any means necessary?

Year ago my ex wife said to me ,if we had kids and one of them was ( in her word ) not 100% all right ,I would have them put in care.
I couldn't believe what she had just said, I told her in the straightest way I could , WELL YOU COULD FK RIGHT OFF THEN .
I'm now married to a great Lady and we have 3 fantastic kids.

A random comparison. I see what you're trying to do but there is no realistic way of comparing a child being disfigured to a football club.

As others have said, don't stop loving the child, just hate the person who disfigured them. In our case, hate Tan.

I will build on this extreme metaphor. To those backing Tan, in this metaphor it would be similar to someone giving your child a new face that, in the majority it seems, you agree is not a face you like but accept... and the person who has changed their face has given you a load of new gifts to do that new face. Now things are just getting fucked up!

Sums the situation up really!

I just went along with the OP. I agree it's a ridiculous comparison, yours works much better  still can't compare any of this to a child, as you also said
