The reason we never signed him was because his agent asked for more money (wages) for Montero, and a higher agent fee for himself. He also has image rights. It's far from a straight forward deal to sign him.

We have a history of being stern with agents and it working, you were an easy target for clubs, players and agents to jump on board and ask whatever they wanted - just like QPR last season. 30k a week id imagine, which would fall in line wth our pay structure.
Most players in the Prem have an image rights deal (Trundle had one with us in league 1) so thats not an issue at all.

Although I'd imagine that now his form's tailed off a bit he may lower his demands to a more reasonable level.

And everybody stood there laughing as he handed over £8m for the likes of Cornelius. That isnt blowing anyone out of the water, thats being a mug as was suggested at the time.
Montero saw your club as something he could milk for all its worth due to his ridiculous spending. As I said, negotiations with us will be a completely different matter where money isnt necessarily the driving force and with us, he must work for it.
I am amazed by how some fans almost speak of pride by the way their club is made a fool of by managers and chairman alike.
