Its childish. If he was Welsh captain but played for Southampton there would be no fuss at all.

No, he's a liability.

Don't particularly like Williams, but folk me that was some ball to Bale for the second goal. Fair play to him.

I agree some fans are pathetic, we should all be getting behind the national team or they'll never go to a tournament. Doesn't any1 wants to go to a tournament before they pop off? Some people on here don't have much time on the ticker left so lets all get behind our national team and pray we finally get to see them in a tournament.

Gareth bale lol I really do hope he sees a major international tournament with Wales. We've produced so many great individuals over the years, but this lad... In my opinion is the best of the lot, it would be a travesty if such a great player doesn't get the chance to play in a major tournament for his country

I have. On many many occasions. He's very overrated and makes far more mistakes than he should do at International level. But who else have we got?

We seem to have a but of depth now, Williams and collison coming on, ledley and Ramsey to come back, Ben Davies/Declan John, Simon church as well we have a decent team as long as the majority are fit.

Gareth bale take a bow. Well done Wales. Good win to build on :ayatollah:

Re: Wales v Iceland

Oh come on, how many mistakes does Williams make for Wales. It seems like every game.
He is a good defender but struggles for Wales.

Good performance by Wales.

Happy to see us win. Bale was very good tonight. Just hope he keeps fit and motivated to play for us and we'd have an excellent chance at going to the Euros.

Because usually hes got f**k all alongside him or in front of him.

If we can get our best 11 out there we are a decent side.

I hope burnley get promoted and vokes get prem experience, it will only make him better for Wales.

I agree with re Williams, but I'm getting the feeling we are in the minority.

And it's got nothing, I repeat nothing to do with who his club side is or the fact he's English. He just makes errors, too many errors. Tonight's block wasn't one though. He just chucked his body in front of the ball, however the original cross could've been defended better.

He looks very motivated to play for Wales and hes no big time charlie.

Looks to me like he thrives on being the main man.

Re: Wales v Iceland

People need to get behind our players. Williams is out best CB, although he is prone to a mistake.

Looking at our depth though, with Rambo, Ledley and Church to come back, Matthews, Davies and Williams in the bench on John and Huws to come through.

Still not convinced with Coleman's selection though, I'd much rather Matthews RB and either Davies or John LB. Perhaps a bit too early for Dec but with a bit more game time he should be ahead of Taylor who seems to have gone backwards after his injury

Re: Wales v Iceland

Wed Mar 05, 2014 9:47 pm

It's quite sad to see some of the comments about Chris Coleman and Ashley Williams on here. As Welshmen you should be ashamed of yourselves. Williams plays for Wales because he qualifies to do so. End of. Your one-eyed, tunnel vision approach to all things Swansea is pathetic. When a particular club is by far the dominant club in Welsh football and that club has a number of Welsh players then they are obviously going to be picked. I would never turn my back on my country because Ramsey was captain or because the games are being played at the CCS not the Liberty. When I'm watching Wales I support the whole team, including the Cardiff players past or present. The club they play for has no relevance. Get behind YOUR team - and grow up!

I would have Davies CB with Williams, Taylor in left. RB is pur weak spot neither Gunter or Matthews are international standard and its a position we have to compromise on. As is centre forward.

Regarding the rest of your post... Totally agree. Though I do wish Williams would play for Wales like he does for Swansea. Whilst he isn't Welsh born, he's more committed that Giggs ever was as captain.

Take out the players who aren't Welsh born and you'd have half a team!

You are one eyed. "Would never go to a game while Williams is captain" "Would never go to a game while Coleman is manager" do you go to Cardiff games while Tan is owner?

Since when have you jacks turned up to support your country lol? No point winning about it on a Cardiff messageboard. If your that concerned, then you should have made the trip tonight and supported Coleman and your country... Or is it because the game was played in Cardiff? At the end of the day, if people don't like Coleman, and don't agree with Williams being captain, it doesn't mean they don't support there country.

What an amazing thread.

Always find it funny when wales play.

If we lose then "coleman (or williams) fault", if we win then "well done bale, bailing coleman out"

It comes to something when the most sensible posts on a 2 page thread come from Polo. :D

Re: Wales v Iceland

Good performance by the sounds of things and created a few chances.

Will have to look at the highlights, was busy and caught the last 15 of the England game as the Wales game was basically over.

Looks like Coleman put out a good team and good balance.

Always good to win and to get a few goals, well done Coleman and the team.

When you got a player like Bale you will mostly look to get the ball to him as he can make things happen and get goals.

I don't care that the game was played in Cardiff. I don't go to friendlies as I prioritise where I spend my money and would prefer to watch Swansea home and away rather than watch meaningless friendlies which degenerate into a stop-start debacle because of the number of substitutions. So people don't like Williams being captain because he was born outside Wales! So what! He plays for wales because the rules say he can. That's exactly my point. What about all the other non-Welsh players? Why no mention of those? Vokes, Ricketts, Robson-Kanu etc etc. Let's get rid of all those as well, then. Great team we'd have then!

Re: Wales v Iceland

Wed Mar 05, 2014 10:26 pm

Ashley Williams was throwing up on the pitch 3 days ago, advised not to play tonight as he also has a suspected broken toe - yet as captain still insists he will start.

Wins the game and still gets stick. I long for the days of a welsh born captain that pulls out of the squad because he sneezed.

For shame.

The friendly tonight wasn't meaningless. Its all about building for the qualifiers. Tonight we had a glimpse of what a strong welsh team is capable of. Wouldn't it be nice if we all put our club rivalries aside for internationals and got behind our country. One can only hope.
