I dont expect hiim to be on the half way line when noone is on the bye line.

Wayne S wrote:Anyone who thinks we were getting a 'star' striker is deluded. We know his style, we know the game that suits him. Stoke fans have told us he can be lazy and his size doesn't lend itself well to pace.

Judge him at that benchmark and he had a very good game. He chased down as much as his pace allowed and SCORED A GOAL.

I classed Earnshaw as a luxury, he used to put his head down and was not aware of better options around BUT he got us goals.

Don't judge KJ against multi- million pound strikers, judge him against his previous career and at the moment, he is doing well.

He doesn't need pace, that's what Noone, Mutch, Zaha, Bellamy, Daehli, Kim, Fabio, John etc a for. Kenwyne is the target and those do the running off or at the defenders. Ok its not 'world class' but I find the attacking threat we possess pretty mouth watering!

Perhaps if we hadn't played with three wingers on the pitch but and Frazier with him up front we might of had more joy in the box . Why play Bellers , Zaha and noone at the same time ? :ayatollah:

He got a defensive header away on nearly all the Norwich corners coming over into the box and scored a goal on his debut in a city shirt and he is not yet up to match fitness - Your a strange lot, I thought it was a wind up at first !!!

His chest downs were top notch too.

For me a good debut, hopefully will get better and better with squad awareness.

I agree totally. He will also give us the option of playing Campbell on his shoulder to run onto the flick-ons.

Re: Kenwynne Jones

Thought kenwynne was awesome today, won every header in our box and in their half, laid off few good balls and scored, what else do u want?

Re: Kenwynne Jones

Sat Feb 01, 2014 9:56 pm

I cannot believe some of the negativity aimed at Kenwyne Jones.

He plays his first game for a club that he has just joined, scored a goal, held the ball up the best anyone has all season and put himself about and gets slated.

He deserves a pat on the back for a good first performance. Well done Kenwyne.

Thought he was excellent today. Looked abit tired towards the end of the game, but im sure fitness will improve with more game time.

Did well when he bothered way to lazy at times. Has he played much this season? match fitness may have been a factor? Plus he knew he was on for the 90 so he needed to save energy.

Re: Kenwynne Jones

Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:04 pm

He got back and defended well in the latter part of the game.

Re: Kenwynne Jones

Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:06 pm

He has brought the one thing we have been needing a striker that wins headers! We have our defenders hoofing the ball upfield and most of the time we lose the ball, today we didn't. Kenwynne won a lot in the air today,Good signing.

Reserving judgement until a few games, but I don't think he was as good as everyone makes out. Lazy, can't play a pass, doesn't use his size to his advantage. I think he got out muscled at least 3 times today. I know he's lacking in match fitness, just hope he turns out good.

Would like to see him partner Campbell mind

I'm not that bothered about the counter attacking tbh! He's not the quickest player and we have Noone Bellamy and Zaha to make up the early ground. Would be nice to see him make some late runs into the box though maybe?

He's not fully match fit yet anyways, should get better as the weeks go by :ayatollah:

Lucky goal

Brilliant at defending corners,CB sorted :)

Agree. I'm pretty sure he cleared and defended at least 5-6 Norwich corners!

Fair play there's some very strange comments on this thread! Kenwyn jones won lots of headers! Caused a few problems and got a goal! On top of this I lost count of how many headers he cleared away for the Norwich corners! Get your head our of your fooking arse! Considering he hasn't been playing of late and isn't match fit.I was very impressed by him!

Shocking comments by the OP! Probably attention seeking!

He was playing as a f*cking CB for the remainder of the second half. Don't give a f**k if he's lazy, if he puts away the easiest of chances and scores the goals he could get a f*cking hammock built into the goals for all I care

Out muscled three times yet he won 5/8 headed duels, competed 50% of of his passes(12/24), cleared 7/7 chances

Statistcally one of our best players.

I tend to agree a little with polo. Think kenwyne is a bit of a luxury player. Was a little lazy when coming back onside.
But what polo isnt doing is praising the things he did right. As a target man he didnt lose a header and that includes defensively at set pieces aswell. Great on heading, defending and attacking. Think ole will work on the boys workrate now getting back onside so he cant mess up out counter attacks.
All in all a pretty good debut, but he does need to work harder in out relegation scrap

He played really well it was good to see him wining headers up there, chesting the ball down, and someone to keep the ball from our though ins. He scored a good goal and in defence was brilliant defending from corners, if he wasn't playing we would have probably conceded from one of them.

Considering he is not match fit that was an excellent debut, and as he gets fitter he will get better :ayatollah:

Re: Kenwynne Jones

Sun Feb 02, 2014 1:29 pm

Thought he played well on his debut. Helped out the defence a few times. But he was obviously knackered in the last 15 minutes and along with Noone struggling from a knock, we effectively played with 9 men towards the end.

Re: Kenwynne Jones

Sun Feb 02, 2014 6:17 pm

I think you have lost the plot, do you actually support Cardiff ?????? the last player we had who could hold the ball up was Jay, decent first game also helped out at the back as well

This, as well as making a few clearances from their 14 corners. I thought polo was one of the sensible posters on here. Well, you're obviously clueless. He had a fantastic debut.

He haven't played for ages so was obviously fucked and Frazier had a strain in his back. f**k me the kid scored the winner no wonder half of our fans are moanining cunts. We won for f**k sake it dont happen often so enjoy it
