We desperately need another striker and a centre half would be handy...Campbell and Jones, plus the unknown, unproven Bergen will leave us short of options...maybe Zaha will be played as a striker

Striker Etien Velikonja has left Cardiff City to join Portuguese club Rio Ave on loan until the end of the season.

Slovenian international Velikonja, who joined the Bluebirds in 2012, has struggled to break through with the Bluebirds.

Velikonja joined Cardiff from Maribor for around £2m, but has only made three appearances after scoring 20 goals in 48 games for Maribor.

The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to Sarajevo, where Vincent Tan is also the owner, but Velikonja turned down the move..

Rio Ave's official website confirmed the loan deal and that it runs until the end of this season.

We really need a striker. From having 5 or 6 on our books we are now down to about 3. If Campbell gets injured we are going to be in trouble. No official news yet on Andreas Cornelius' impending departure but it is fully expected to happen by the end of the day...

The £8m flop is on his way back to FC Copenhagen, as we revealed earlier this week.

Today, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking about the young Dane, insisting it was unfair for big pressure to have been put on such a young man.

"Cornelius is talking to them but it is not 100% done yet," he said.

"Andreas has had a hard time. He came here as a big potential prospect and he is a young kid. Young kids cannot be expected to carry a team. He will play a lot of good football in his career, I'm sure.

Fulham have just snapped Spurs midfielder Lewis Holtby, while Sunderland have brought in Liam Bridcutt from Brighton.

It has been reported by Sky Sports that Cardiff may look to hijack that move for Dann but we have no confirmation on the validity of that suggestion
