Excellent OP Fergy. I have said it a few times, I feel our home support has gone weak. Years ago we use to thrive on being the underdog and everybody righting us off. Now when the chips are down we are weak and nervous and go quiet. We should get louder and more aggressive against the lower teams but we don't we just go into out shells.

We have loads of youngsters walking around in stone island and designer gear trying to look like the soul crew but lack the passion when things aren't going right. West ham home is a prime example. The crowd was very quiet. Easy to support a winning team and the team is on top but you should support your team more when your backs are against the wall.

I believe if we are more like our old selves we could be a extra 6 to 9 points to our team by getting on the refs and opposition backs. e.g

Man city. Crowd was loud, underdog, crowd got behind the team = 3 points. West ham crowd very quiet no passion = 0 points.

It's up to us are we going to stand up and be counted or are we going to go into our shells like little lambs?

We are all going to stand up and be counted, get behind our team and make Cardiff a hard place to come. Surely?

I think there are still a fair few oldies around but the problem is they are dispersed throughout the ground now and not in one area where we could all get together and generate an atmosphere. Like the OP I remember many of those games and can also remember Morrys Scott scoring 2 goals against Gloucster in the cup to salvage a draw and thousands of City travelling for the replay with 100's including myself being locked out by the police remember the same happening at Brentford when something like 5000 City fans travelled and thousands including myself being locked out of Griffin Park :(

The passion of our fans when we drew with Swansea 3-3 after being 3-1 down and Buchanan scoring with an exocet, also remember going absolutely beserk when Buchanan scored the winner against Wrexham in the FA Cup after we threw away a 2-0 lead. Trips to Shrewsbury where we battered them but lost 1-0, Scarboro where Chris Pike scored 2 goals in monsoon conditions, three visits to the Old Den and survived to tell the tale although I was threatened with a machete :o just glad there was a fence between us :D

I love the City and have done since my first game in 1969 I hate the Red but could never walk away over a colour I have been to Accrington, Stoke the Etihad and Old Trafford this season bit of a mixed bag there and next season whether it is Old Trafford, Anfield, The Emirates or Elland Road, Ewood Park etc I will be there.

You have to experience the bad times (There have been plenty) to really appreciate the good times never thought i would see us play in 3 finals at Wembley or reach the Premiership and my passion remains the same I am a Bluebird and proud of it and will be singing at the top of my voice on Saturday and hope others will do the same :old: :ayatollah:

Nail on the head. Society is just soulless and passionless. People just want to rinse everyone else of cash, theres no belonging, people rarely know their neighbours these days, everyone is out for themselves.

Even when things go bad society doesn't unite. We don't stand up together and fight against politicians - a lot don't even vote. A lot just don't even care or make excuses as its an easier option than doing something.

Its the whole of society - a commercial and materialistic money focused wet dream which perfectly aids those who've prospered from capitalism but those who haven't get penalised.

British society is fractured and theres no harmony at all at that level. Football is a sect of society so its going to face the same issues as well. Common sense out of the window and it has now been replaced by legal cases and compensation because money is the only valued asset for many.

Britain is a materialistic and consumerist cesspit to be honest and the 'must have' and 'I need' culture thats been bred is a disgrace and is going to cause more issues in the long term. The culture of today is predominantly selfish and yes of course you will find good people who will do anything for anyone but there is most definitely a me, me, me culture out there.

Welcome back the JB that is a great poster. Spot on.

The rioting in Britain was a prime example of this. It turned into a people against the Government to youths fighting anyone just because they can while looting their own communities for their own gain.

Britain is fucked because the youth of today is the future of the country - and there is a larger proportion of selfish, spineless knobheads in this generation of youth than I have ever witnessed. The respect has gone.

I was at Cambridge Away when we drew 0-0 with 8 men and saved a penalty.

I (and I'm no superfan nor do I hate new fans) was at Bury when we lost on a rainy Tuesday night when our mascot had a ruck.

I was there when we lost to Orient and Stilton was in goals. After the game their fans asked why we sand and celebrated for the full 90 despite losing. We are Cardiff. That's why.

I was there when we lost in the FAQ Cup final after flying for 24 hours to get there. I was proud as punch.

I was there at Sheffield United when the coppers fucked us over and we lost.

I was there when we drew with York away to go up and Leo scored 3!

We were shit. BUT you wouldn't have guessed it by our fans on all of those occasions.

I was there when we were 4-1 down in the league Cup against Plymouth and we won 5-4.

I was there when we lost to Shrewsbury away and it went mad.

It had nothing to do with me. It was us. No matter what happened we were the loudest and most intimidating fans in the league.

Now, we are a few points from mid table and signing names I'd never dream of and we are mostly f*cking miserable and negative.

I'm not a better supporter because I was there. I just believe we should be better supporters because we are here.

I don't know about you but I am f*cking Cardiff City and the way I was brought up by my dad, my mates and our football failures, I will never give up.

I genuinely don't mean to be patronising but stand up and be counted.

Be heard. By the team. That will urge us to safety.

Bluebirds.

Great post....we are fans not literary critics.

I can't believe the negativity despite signing half a dozen class players.

We have a Brazilian international starting for us today. I can't f*cking wait.

I think we will tear Norwich to pieces if we get an early game.

I just hope our fans are up for creating an atmosphere that will help the team rather than get on their backs and make them nervous.

Come on City.
