Marshall was superhuman in many of the games we managed to get a clean sheet under Malky and were it not for him the average would be more like 2.55

After our decent run in August / September and after the Fulham game (Arguably our best PL performance under Malky) we managed to score only 9 times in 12 games under Malky, failing to score in 6 of them.

In our last 8 games under Malky we managed to score in just 3 of them, and took just 5 points out of a possible 24.

We failed to score in 4 consecutive away games to Villa, Norwich, Stoke and Palace. In fact we barely mustered a chance.

If you add the West Ham, Hull and Fulham games to those away games under Malky we scored just 3 goals in 7 away games against lower half teams, and took just 6 points out of 21. Not good enough and it will bite us on the bum I think as we have now been left in a position whereby we pretty much have to win all our remaining home games not including Liverpool and Chelsea.

We were in free fall and heading for relegation under Malky, that is undeniable.

Goaless draws and fistpumps would have not kept us up I am afraid.

Mario, The only stat you've omitted is the most important, Our league position.

Palace we rejuvenated and had a decent few results against beatable teams.

Arsenal away Man City Away United Away and West Ham Home.

All f*cking Beatable right enough.

f**k Long Ball Pulis,Have faith in the Gunnar .... :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The same can be said about Malky's home games with us. We only played Swansea and West Brom at home who are in the bottom half and we won them both. Malky always made us difficult to beat at home, we beat Man City and took points off Everton and Man Utd. I have no doubts in our second half of the season with the home games we have left, Malky would have got us enough points to stay up.

With regards to Pulis, he would have been a good appointment as like Malky, he would have made us very hard to beat at home and he would have picked up results for us. I honestly thought the reason for sacking Malky was to bring in a manager with Premiership experience. We haven't done that so when finding out Ole would be our new manager, I felt it was an unnecessary risk.

However, so far Ole is saying all the correct things and there's a calmness and ruthlessness about what he's doing so far. Whether Ole's wheeling and dealing to reshape our squad keeps us up or not remains to be seen. But I do admire Ole's guts for making so many drastic changes in such a short space of time. I think Ole will be a very good manager for us, whether we stay up or not this season. Comparing Pulis and Ole, I would say Pulis is the sort of short term manager needed for avoiding relegation, but Ole is better for the future and will take us to heights Pulis won't be able to.

Yes, Ole is a massive gamble who thinks he can attack his way out of a relegation dogfight.(has it ever happened?) We aren't quite in that dogfight, but if we don't get a few victories in the next 3 games, then we are in a dog fight with the wrong manager. But Vincent knows best because he's a billionaire and billionaires aren't stupid. ;)

Complete rubbish. Wigan stayed up for many years playing nice football - Rodallega - Valencia - etc.

Oh, they only went down when they sold too many of their talents. Fact.

Wigan weren't in a dog fight. Which is why Ole must elevate our position quickly, once the demons enter players heads attractive footballis impossible to implement at all let alone mid way through a season.

You book mark this.

Correct. Wigan played good football under Martinez and often unerathed a top player or two too. Sadly, Wigan is not the sort of club that can hold on to these players and the inevitable happened.

Actually I think Wigan may have been in one proper dog fight. was that under Martinez?

It's only one side in one season out of how many teams/seasons?

Ole was a utd player - does he even know what relegation battle is? Im behind him, im hoping we can attack our way out of this hole, but some people seem to think he is some sort of managerial holy grail - why? Lets hope he can start getting some points on the board. The jury still out for me sorry.

The defence wasn't that solid though, we were conceding goals and we weren't scoring either.

Correct. We had the second worst defensive record when Malky was sacked.

Tan started the rot a good month or two before Malky was finally sacked. Until Tan started refusing player bonuses and employing YTS painters we competed well with EVERYBODY in the league

What a pointless stat.

He did great last season and for that Im grateful. He had to go and now we are in with a fighting chance.

Given no money he was good in the transfer market. Given lots of money he didnt have a scooby.
