I went that day Annis with a few of my mates and I remember it being like a scene from the Alamo with just wave after wave of Utd attacks. We lost 4-0 and probably deserved to be beaten more but hopefully it will be closer Tuesday evening.

The stadium wasn't what it is today but still impressive and I think the crowd was about 40k which meant the city fans were pretty much lost in there.

In those days the Utd team had Stepney, Buchan, McIlroy, Greenhof and Macari who back then were big name players and no rugby match would have kept me away.

I really hope we put in a display on Tuesday because back in 1975 I don't think we did.

Gary, I rem all those great Man United names. Good on u, the round ball all the way for Gary without a doubt. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Funny how you remember things Annis but I'm sure a young Steve Coppell was sub for Utd that day, only 1 sub was allowed back then, we had Gil Reece and Derek Showers up front which sort of tells you the difference in the teams.

This Tuesday I think the gap is not as big so let's hope for a positive result.

To be honest annis i can't even recall where the city fans were put in the ground, that said i think there was only a couple of hundred so they would have been hard to see in a stadium with 60,000 in.

Granted I'm only 21, but I've waited all my life to see City play at Old Trafford. The best club stadium in the UK by a mile.

I went on a school trip a few years ago to see them play Lille in the Champions League, they won 2-0 with Henrik Larsson scoring. Was just a delight to admire the stadium.

Seeing the Bluebirds play there on Tuesday will just be a dream come true though. Under the lights as well which will make it even more magical.

I've been to Arsenal, Chelsea etc this season with CCFC but Tuesday will just be such an incredible moment as we walk into the stadium and realise we are in the same league as that club.

If we win then it'll be up there with the best moments watching Cardiff City - but I'm not getting ahead of myself!

We were down by the score board end but in the stand by the corner flag. About three hundred I think but crowd was about forty thousand I think .
I remember we hit the bar and we all jumped up and the whole of the scoreboard end looked up at us an I thought I'm fucked here

I was there as a 12 year old on that day at NP in 1974, but never thought I'd get this chance. Now I am taking my almost 12 year old to his 7th away this season. Going up on the train, and staying overnight, and if it anything like Man City it will be another top day out this season.

Maidstone United and Halifax were prob some of the worst grounds, but there plenty I can tell u that.

Ive been to 3 World Cups and 4 European Championships so at the time it felt like grounds say in France 98 where I watched England and Scotlands games were special, but so were grounds in Germany ect Manchester City's was the other week.
Ive never been to Real Madrid's or Barcelona's, I still want to.

Old Trafford is up there with the best and going with Cardiff is what Ive waited for :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Most intimidating was a ground in Greece, but so was the old Den and West Ham in the 70's

I'll be there and completely agree with Annis, it is incredible. Whilst watching the Man U game at the CCS, I turned around to the guys who sit around me and said, 'We are watching Cardiff City playing Manchester United. Man United. Pinch yourself'. Jimmy Andrews was the manager when I went to my first game and now to play Man U in the First Division, with every chance of an upset is amazing. But true to Cardiff form, its never easy and Mata gets to play in his first Man U game against us. I really hope that we play in blue for this one (and every other one for that matter). :ayatollah:

 Definitely AJ. And looking quite gutted when we were celebrating a draw like a win mate. They are under much pressure now and I reckon that the Solskjær scenario will also add some spice to Tuesdays game, so it will be a very interesting atmosphere for sure. For some reason, I really fancy an upset with this one, I really do. We absolutely need to be the 12th man for this, as I reckon they will be nervous. :ayatollah:

Lived in Leigh which is not far from Manchester for a while in the late seventies and went to Old Trafford, Anfield and Maine Road on a number of occasions. I have also been fortunate enough to have seen City play at Anfield and Maine Road and just over a week ago at the Etihad but I have never seen us play at Old Trafford.

So this is a game I am really looking forward to it really is an impressive stadium and if you get there early and you get the opportunity do the stadium tour it is superb. Like many of our fans I think we could nick a point however I fear a backlash from United after their defeat against Sunderland in the Carling Cup! However let's all go up there and become the 12th man for City and never mind what the result is let's all just enjoy the occasion and reflect how far we have come in the last five years :old: :ayatollah:

Tony Evans, my fav city player of all time. His strike rate with Adrian Alston was formidable. Used to go down Ninian expecting a win every time.
Tony Evans.jpg

They were great days.

Anyone know whatever happened to tony Evans these days? read his wilkipedia and the last update was that he was coaching a kids charity. Anyone know where he is or what he is doing now?

God, he must be in his late 60's now - Fu-k i'm old !!!!!

tony evans was in my opinion the best free transfer the club ever had and along with alston was my favourite strike partnership.
i remember alston trying a shot straight from the kick off in one game.

Yea, Blueheaven, those were the days.

I was at that Spurs match with my mates. Next day Peter Sayer was all over the Sunday papers, I remember reading it on the coach to go fishing up the wye (Bute angling association) 3.30 am start from Rumney/Newport road.

That's the year I won the junior Angling trophy with a 2 oz Roach cause no one else caught anything- ha,ha

May 1977 Left school at the age of 16 to Join the Merchant Navy and see the world - they were days so full of excitement for me and the Bluebirds too.

Like your tattoo (avitar) - Doc Grahams? - I got the bluebird with Cardiff city FC over (rounded) and Bluebirds under (rounded) - they used the old thick lines in the 70's/80's - I think they call them "old school " now.

Lately, I have lost count of the piss takers when they see my bluebirds Tattoo - mind you it is an embarrassment of our history and tradition with this red.

Mind you, never thought I would live to see the day we would be in another FA Cup final, Playing in top league and Playing away at old trafford. My Dad (RIP) would have been so proud of us Blooobirds !!!!
