Sorry, some utter shite spoken on here.
people go on about our history and tradition. What happens today is our history tomorrow! the good bits, the bad bits, the blue , the red it will all become our history. As will Tan one day. We will have better owners and probably worse ones over the years. That has always been the case.History is constantly being made. One day the blue WILL be back.

However, under NO circumstances do you ever boycott YOUR club IMO. :old:

It is still CARDIFF CITY. Always will be.

As a fellow boycotter, I read Phil Stead's article with more than a little interest and agreement. Many of you may remember Phil as the man who started the whole 'Ayatollah' thing back in the early 90's.

I'm particularly interested in the comments in this thread that the author of the article is in some way being cruel to his kids by denying them the 'Cardiff City experience' and refusing to buy them any official merchandise as this effectively financially supports the rebrand. It's also interesting to read some of the opinions that suggest that Phil is in some way depriving himself and his kids of important bonding time. Frankly, I believe this is total nonsense as I'm sure that, like me, he will, as a responsible and loving parent, ensure that the 'Cardiff City void' has been well and truly filled with a multitude of other things to ensure that the bond between himself and his kids remains as strong as ever.

Teaching your kids that bullying and dictatorial behaviour should not be supported or tolerated is an important thing to do and as behaving like a dictatorial bully is exactly what Vincent Tan has done, explaining to and discussing with your children that you won't support his actions in any way is a valuable lesson to your child. Unfortunately, boycotting merchandise is inextricably tied in with this. A much more serious and significant example of this occurred when I was a kid: my father refused to buy any South African goods due to the apartheid regime. He gently explained why it was important that we boycotted produce from that country and it is a lesson that has always stuck with me. Whilst I would never seek to link the two directly, the same principle applies - if you feel strongly about something then you do something practical (however small) about it.

Also, like the writer of the piece, I regard results on the pitch as utterly irrelevant compared to the importance of the club's identity. Form is temporary, what makes 'your club, your club' is far more significant, as far as I'm concerned. I am fully aware that I am in a tiny minority in holding this viewpoint!

Personally, a football club should be all about the community it serves. Things like emblems, colours and names should be totally untouchable, like listed buildings, in my opinion.

You seem to see your role as football fan, comprising nothing more than passive cusumption without any steak in the clubs future, how about shaping a prouder history of YOUR club by influencing what happens today?

How can you call it YOUR club when you exhibit none of the characteristics associated with owning something?

I believe you would be up in arms if Cardiff were overtaken by a consortium of far east based peadophiles fronted by Gary Glitter, and rightly so. This tells me that your above statement based on passive fatalism, was made as an excuse because deep down you see a loss of identity and soul a price worth paying for top flight football.

An interesting original post

Hate to see fans like this ridiculed by some, it's a fair stance on matters and due to his proximity to the club and recent events he obviously feels that spending all his hard earned money on many hours travelling doesn't accumulate value as he doesn't feel the same passion for a club which to say the least is divided on opinion regarding branding matters.

To even say that it's a selfish thing to castrate his children from games is a bit low. His children can still
Support cardiff but not experience it on the terraces. But let's be fair they went to 2 cup finals and the current atmosphere In the stands pale as insignificance to the atmosphere back then when we were all united in blue. But in every aspect of life children rely on parents for values and judgements and tbh his children In the long run might appreciate the fact their dad has a loyalty to the traditions of the club and hopefully they will morally take something away from that. I think parenting is wider reaching than just taking your boys to the footy obviously it's a gap in his life but I'm sure his sons will fully understand his stance, as do I as I can fully understand his emotions regarding the currents clubs state.

I'm not saying don't protest, march etc obviously people should be proactive to have maintain/achieve the football club they want. My point was that you shouldn't just walk away from the club because you don't like the owner, shirt colour etc. Walking away doesn't help anyone.
It all comes down to supporting the 11 players on the pitch who represent us and our club at the end of the day. Because that is what we go down there for.

sneggy, You seemed to flirt with poor taste months before this ban. I can recall you behaving in an ungentlemanly way when on one occasion someone mentioned their fathers bluebirds gravestone in relation to history and local identity of CCFC, you replied very insensitively, I believed then you should've been banned.

Re: " LIFE WITHOUT CARDIFF CITY "

You cannot change a club simply by changing a colour or name for that matter. It's the people that count, the fans. I've visited many wonderful looking cities around the world but wouldn't give tuppence for the attitude of the people. I've visited cities around the world that resemble one big slum, but the people were fantastic and that actually made the city feel more comfortable. What i'm saying is supporting the club is one thing, but supporting each other is another and it's that camaraderie and togetherness which makes the difference. The people of South Wales are amongst the most friendliest people on this planet and believe me i've travelled across all the continents from latin and central America, South, East and North Africa. Asia and Eastern Europe including Moscow. All i'm saying is they can change the clubs colours and change the name, but you cannot change the people! Its the people (the fans) that are and make Cardiff City. :ayatollah:

You say the club is representing us but if I'm honest I doesn't feel that way to me, the players want to perform for themselves as well as fans and the owner clearly does things off his own accord, it any says he's done this for the benefit of the fans on the terraces must look through some distorted viewpoint, walking away is the ultimate form of protest if u can stomach it, if everyone took that viewpoint and no one entered the stands until we were blue we would have our kit and badge back quickly! but as a set of fans many just can't walk away and that results in tan thinking he can do what he likes!

Agreed u stated that the players represent us and our club and I misconstrued that opinion apologies for that, but all I was getting across was that it doesn't feel like we are being represented by our club In a respectable manner. We as supporters are clearly divided on ways in which to protest against aspects of the club or even to support the rebrand but I just feel like it's a black cloud hanging over us and is only dividing support, and with regards to a boycott I just stated that it is the best form of approach to a protest In any form of life not just football. I didn't state I agreed with this because I fully understand the reasoning for people to attend fixtures and to just flood the stadium with the full backing of the players no matter what colour we play in and what goes on in the boardroom, something I believe is the most important aspect of support. But the division of opinion with regards to all this has ultimately subdued the emotions felt by many our fans on our arrival in the premier league something which I believe have deteriorated the passion felt on the terraces

Re: " LIFE WITHOUT CARDIFF CITY "

Seems we are all different where the rebrand is concerned. A true fan could be someone who sticks by the team no matter what colour or name the owner changes to.

A true fan could be a fan that goes to games suppots the team but thats it no support of the colour change or owner.

A true fan could be the one that stays away in total objection to the changes.

What I have learn is we are all still true fans of the club but we have a different way in which are individually supporting the club.
We now have a fan base which is divided as a result.

In my eyes Tans rebrand has been a big failure causing a lot of anger unrest and has destabilised are club.

Fans saying they are bored of these threads better get used to it as it will never go away after all we never wanted the rebrand.some fans may have found a way to move forward with it others will hurt forever.

I think its caused a massive amount of damage to each and ever city fan but because we have a difference of opinion regarding the rebrand it impossible to agree how best to fix the problem.

I hate us fans being divided and somehow it needs repairing and the only way to do that where all fans would have unity is if we went back to blue.

Every time tan has wobbled hes managed to calm the storm .we need to keep the pressure on because he will crumble.

At the moment TAn is bigger than the club and nobody is bigger than the fans we are the club.we just need to find away to use are power.

Really do hope that some day we get are true colours back then all the fans can unite again for the good of Cardiff City.

Interesting reads thanks!

I can't shake addiction to CCFC the cravings are there, but I do not pay any money to that shady character Tan, he is NOT the reason for my addiction, but he won a turf-war and wants to continue trading in CCFC. I am being perscribed Football-streamed methadone to help me kick my addiction.

I can't imagine going cold-turkey and not having CCFC in my life, I honestly get depressed when thinking about the club and thats not what sport or life in general should be about.

Next season I will be a reformed character, spending time with my family, and no more excuse as to why we have to be home before 3pm etc...I want to be free of that! Im only 31 so maybe i'll join a pub team to play for, or join a Rugby team as Im an excellent player when fit! Be a better day out for the family watching me get battered on a Rugby pitch!!

haha, good luck today Cardiff :ayatollah:

Agree with all said above, top post! We are all fans and for any one to dictate they're superiority as a fan compared to someone else is quite frankly laughable we are all in this together, but the difference in the opinion regarding the rebrand is the underlying reason for many of the conflicts of interest between supporters and Is quote frankly damaging to our club, the way in which I see it is that the red is a token of tans investment and whilst he is here I fear we will not get a change on this stance, hopefully I'm wrong but I fear we are going to be in this fiasco for the long haul with tan at the helm. If there was to be any sort of impact we need Ole on board with the blue campaign and get a firm message direct to tan that is benefit for this to happen.

But in the meantime lets give our full Focus on the football and supporting our players overcome
What is going to be a torturous relegation dogfight!

Spot on. Haven't attended a City game since West Ham in May 2012, after rarely missing a home match for the best part of 25 years. I'm certainly no martyr though. I wish I didn't feel the day I do about the rebrand but you can only go with your true feelings on an issue like this.

How can we all be in it together ?

There are people who attend matches that I know of, who could not give a shit for Cardiff City and openly admit to supporting Luverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Everton.

these people dont care as long as they have a season ticket for a season where they can see their idols twice while following City ??

These people dont care about red or name change and will be gone if we ever go down.

and how can anyone say "it will always be Cardiff" ?? So the colour change is fine, what about name change ?? When do we stop becoming Cardiff City football club ?

What would it take before you would think I dont care about Liverpool, Man Utd coming down anymore ?

I never stated this and will never trade off a colour of a jersey for a price for success as I believe this standpoint is flawed in its outset. We as a club were pushing play off finals and FA cup finals and carling cup finals all
In blue. We all want success as supporters and changing red didn't automatically bring success it's what happens on the pitch that does that not the jersey, and we have malky to thank for that not the red kit, no one can underestimate the importance of tans ownership with regards to the financial ability as a club which no doubt contributed but I feel we could've easily pushed for the prem regardless. but I just feel this whole situation is unjust and easily prevented and with tan in charge I fear we will have no control or no input to any aspect of the club, which in my opinion is completely non sensical and damaging to our motivations as supporters.

Because without the rebrand Tan claims that he wouldn't invest? Without Tan investing the club might not progress up the league. whether you believe this or not, It was apparently the the deal on offer and the choice made by many reluctant reds. Or the other theory was red or dead. which I found ridiculous at the time and even more so now.
