Why are people hating on whitts

All sorts of people are called 'legends' at our club.

One day Peter Whittingham will get the credit he deserves. Loyal, rarely misses a game, scores goals, makes goals, just because he doesn't run around like a blue arsed fly, some people think he's doing nothing. He's also a top man, and great with fans, before and after games.

He's no more perfect than the rest of us, but Whitts is one of the best payers that I have seen down the City since I first saw them in 1968. When he was dropped last season, he accepted it. No toys out of the pram, no 'personal matters' like others we could mention. Just got on with it.

What about his a effort at blocking West hams square ball for a goal? No excuses that was diabolical.

So who was marking Carlton Cole?

Whitts is one of our best players of that there is no doubt,just look at the players around him, they are always looking to give him the ball to distribute it where we need it.If they didn't trust him they would soon cut him out.
The people on here always slagging him off, are just a little bit stupid and know f**k all.Probably the same knobs who were saying Marshall's crap !

So Whitts isnt allowed to misplace one pass, corner or free kick but Bellamy can?

2nd half Whitts kept our posession ticking over moving the ball from one side to the other bringing our flair players Bellamy and Noone into the game.

Especially when Eikrem come on him and Whitts were always available for each other and kept our attacks ticking over very nicely.

of course he can get one wrong....but his set pieces have been piss poor recently...he ducks out of tackles and is half hearted in everything he is doing.....maybe fatigue is setting in

He is not a tackler, never has been. There are many top players who cant / wont tackle. We have other people in the team to do that.

As for his set pieces we scored off one up in Newcastle, and had another disallowed off one, but dont let the truth get in the way of a good witch hunt.

no whitch hunt by me....i say what i see,i dont get it right all the time but whitts needs a kick up the arse..

and what game time are you basing your assumption of cornelius on....the whole 2 hours he has played....

You praise Cornelius for contributing sod all and say he will come good yet slate a CCFC legend who's contributed at every level and is statistically our 2nd best player this season. You're an absolute lunatic pal. Without Whitts we'd be rock bottom and the stats prove that. He's our best midfielder/attacking player and only Caulker is rated more highly than him. Even fans favourite Medel hasn't got shit on Whittingham other than he's better at retaining the ball which is not hard considering he plays much much deeper than Whitts and makes less risky passes. Good grief.

sadly i havnt praised him.....i watched him monday night v crystal palace....but i dont think i have seen enough of him to praise or otherwise,what i will say is we should never have squandered such a vast amount on him....but again just my opinion

Love all the feedback. I have never been to a home game before but hoping Stoke on 19th of April on mystag will be nmy first and can honestly say not a man I wanna see more than whitts.

I think "hating" is a bit exaggerated. I'm sure there is no one here who would ever hate any of our players, why should they? Unless there was only some personal aspect, which is unlikely, they are only sports people. I don't know the guy personally but I have no reason to believe he's anything other than a likeable chap, why should I?

I know there are a lot of people on this and another thread who appear extraordinarily impassioned as supporters of him and they have every right to their opinion without receiving abuse. I happen to think entirely differently about the guy, just like many many others, and that is also perfectly allright. Nevertheless, I'm sure no one is so crazily impassioned as to hate him just because we dont rate him

Whittingham was the most laziest player a few seasons back, picked up the ball spreading it out wide, through ball, the lot.

Never went steaming into tackles, never tracked back much but was praised 24/7 by our fans.

He has never ever been a CDM or a LM really but MM played in both of them positions. It was rare to see him as an actual CM.

Malky has made him a different player and he has been building attributes he never had and doesn't really need because he has quality in areas such as set pieces, passes, touch and shots but they never were seen that much by MM.

People slate him for working hard but praised him for being quite a laid back player before. Fickle.
