Declan John shouldn't be starting in the prem. he should be on loan to the championship to get games under his belt.
not saying hes not a decent player, but hes not prem class yet.

John has been just about our most consistent outfield player since he started this most recent run in the side, better than Taylor IMO, but as I haven't seen much of Fabio to compare them, I'll trust OGS's judgement on this one!

hes made a few positional mistakes which have cost us goals when hes played, i know others have cost us aswell. but he needs games under his belt to get a feel of first team competitive football.

Yes he's made a few positional mistakes, but ones that have led to a goal, can't recall any tbh, except for where he could possibly have moved inside to cover Turner at the Emirates for their second goal, although I'd have expected Turner not to head the ball straight to an Arsenal player!

He's playing too well to be dropped ATM IMO, not unless OGS does manage to get somebody in who's clearly better than him and he's getting the competitive football you say he needs at this moment in time and doing a pretty decent job in my book!

well if you look back at the fist goal at west ham, he was way to close to the center back, which happens alot.
im not knocking him, he needs to play to get these errors out his game, but when we are in a relegation battle i would want some one a bit more reliable.
he puts his foot in and does the basics well, but we need someone reliable.

I was at West Ham as well, only missed Chelsea away and tbh, I can't remember the first goal exactly, but you have to bear in mind that it was his first Premier League game ever, which is a huge step up from DVP matches and he's got better and better since his most recent run started!

If we bring in Fabio and he is better than John and we also have somebody better at the club than John is now, then there'd be a case for allowing him to go on loan, but at this moment in time IMO, he's the best left back we possess!

I agree about the Scottish League Matthews is playing in, but you also have to take into account his performances against the likes of Barcelona & AC Milan, whilst Celtic have appeared in the last 2 years of Champions League games at least!

I would have imagined that Man Utd had a plethora of decent midfield players to cover Beckham's loan move to Preston at that time though, whilst we don't have the same quality of players to cover John's loan move!
