Um, at Rovers he was being played all alone up top and there were no real great playmakers in midfield to supply him. He is not the type for those kind of tactics. Allardyce was the problem, not Diouf.

But if OGS is trying to sign an ex-Hannover player, Mohammed Abdellaoue would be better IMO, especially since he hasn't been given much of a chance since he signed for Stuttgart. Might be too expensive though. And also, he's another Norwegian so it might raise questions...

According to Transfermarkt, Mame Biram Diouf is worth around 11 million euros, while Abdellaoue is at only 3 millions. (About 8 millions before his transfer to Stuttgart) Abdellaoue of course has three and a half years left on his contract, so that would add to the price. Not sure about Diouf's contract.

Mame Biram seems more like a playmaking striker as he has tons of assists, so I'm not sure how he'd do as a lone striker. I suppose Cardiff's wings might work as inside forwards (Craig Bellamy?). Maybe Solskjær wants to change it up to 4-4-2 or something. Diouf and Cornelius sure has the potential to become a great combination.

He was great in Hannover and impressive for Manchester United and their reserve squad. (12 goals in 12 games in the PL Reserve league) Good signing if they get him cheap. Lots of PL teams are and should be interested.

Rovers spent 8.5 mill on him and they're not selling unless there's profit in it.

Well then give them a profit we should have singed him in the summer anyway. We need someone who is a proven Goalscorer a Rhodes is exactly that and he is the young Hungary footballer that Ole was saying he wanted would be a perfect signing. Even though I have no problem with the Norweigens we are signing are midfield was probably already our strongest area our priorities for this window should have been 3 players. 1 stricker, 1 centre back and one Left Winger.

I disagree regarding Rhodes, whilst he definitely is a natural finisher his distinct lack of pace and mobility means he will never be a top Premier League stiker IMO, much like David Nugent.

Also I would say that midfield is definitely NOT our strongest area (prior to the Norwegian signings). Most substitutions we make are for the middle of the park and after Medel, Mutch and Kim (maybe Whitts) we do not have any other central midfielders good enough for this league. Gunnarson has been a liability every game he has played and it is no surprise to me that in each of our last 2 Prem matches he has come on whilst City not having conceded and in both matches we then went to concede 2 goals at the death, it is not a coincidence.

Definitely agree regarding a winger and a central defender though. I think that Frazier will be fine if he gets service which hopefully the new midfield signings and positive play will provide.

He's quicker than a good handful of current PL strikers, of all the things to criticise him for I don't think that one is valid.

Lambert is actually quote fast but just uses his pace intelligently rather than running around like a headless chicken. By saving energy he allows himself to be able to put 100% into his runs and score which is why he scores so much. Being a striker isn't just about being fast in the Premier League but its about mentally being up there as well. Thats why the likes of Bergkamp and Solskjaer did well in the Premier League. Even RVN didn't have much pace but he word accelerate fast to lose his man and find space to poach goals.
