At Southampton he was asked to play at full back and excelled ,he then slowly made his way back forward and is now one of the worlds best attacking players .
Declan John started as a striker in the youth teams before being tried at left back and he has excelled ,his play and control will allow him to move forward in the future and be a top class winger / attacker
Very similar players at this age

Only difference Bale went to a stupid club after Southampton, he then realised they were shit and moved on.
John will settle at his big club.

Started as a forward before being settled back at left back .
Has fantastic pace
Crosses the ball really well
Takes people on for fun by knocking it past them and out sprinting rather than tricks
Not scared to shoot from anywhere
I can see young Declan moving up the pitch as Gareth bale did in a year or so when more experienced and leaving the left back slot to become a pacey forward player
We will do well to keep him he is destined for the top IMO
Big Sam will bring him on !

One game, iv'e watched them a few times this season and he's been quality. Cut above the likes of Gibbs and even Evra nowadays. He'd have played for England a handful of times if he was playing for a bigger club than Southampton.
boy.

Everything was provided for him to ensure he was kept away from the leeches of the game and continued his footballing path with us.

Your'e right but Shaw has got Cole and Baines ahead of him, they have pretty much tied it up between the two of them the past two years and will go to the World cup. When one is injured they call up Gibbs which makes no sense to me anyway.
