Funny looking at the football casuals, i remember Stoke in 78/79 season i think, a few of their fans came on the front of the bob bank their leader dressed and looked like Noddy Holder from slade, but the rest the younger fans in stark contrast looked smart, i often wondered was these the first casual that i'd seen. They soon got kicked off the bobank climbing over the fence to get away. Big crowd that day for the time 14,000, no women and children in them days the bigger the crowd the more disorder there was.

When I was ten in 1970/71 I used to travel to Cardiff with the old man and sometimes the Sandfields supporters bus from Port Talbot I remember distinctly Aston Villa pouring off into the Bob bank and a running battle ensuing made the opening scene of Gladiator look like a Carry On film.Equally being attacked by Burnley teenagers in the same part of the ground. What though always struck me was the visit of West Ham in the League Cup - Geoff Hurst ,Clyde Best et al and a hammer fan being led past the Grange End with a screwdiver in a coppers hand, boots off , being removed by old bill giving the V's to Cardiff. Please can someone on here remind me of the date of the West Ham game I think it was 4-1 Hurst did score. Many more but when you are really young is it not strange things stick as opposed to later life. Why did I not keep the programmes .I kept the Real Madrid one
though.

We played west ham up their place in the 2nd round and drew 1-1. The replay at Ninian park was in the latter part of September 1971 and they beat us 2-1, can't remember who scored but I remember their mob come unstuck against the Grange end lads that night.
