People who have a history with the club including celebrities have been asked to become patrons.

On being asked to become a Patron of SU/MUST Ole said: "I am honoured. I think it is important that the club remains in the right hands. I am absolutely on the supporters' side and think the club is in very good hands as it is today. I am a United fan myself and only want what is best for the future."

Throughout he was assisted by his English colleagues, Mark Dempsey and goalkeeper coach Richard Hartis, who he had taken with him from United, and who will doubtless both be joining him shortly in Wales.

As his star rose in Norway, so his name was regularly linked to a return to the Premier League, the place he had long said he wanted to test his managerial credentials. Offers came in, but he turned them all down.

Cardiff, then, might seem an odd choice to spark his ambition, particularly as he rejected Blackburn in 2011 because he rightly feared the unstable club politics could stall his career. After all, this is not the sanest of workplaces: it is not for nothing the bookies are offering odds as low as 3-1 that he will be jobless by the end of the season.

Yet Tan has a fetishistic obsession with all things United, believing association with the club, even in something as tenuous as the colour of shirt or the playing career of the manager, is the best way for Cardiff to unlock the far eastern market.

Solskjaer’s position as a United legend will have facilitated the extraction of all sorts of assurances that were not available to his maligned predecessor Malky Mackay.

Vincent Tan is a traditional Malaysian Chinese businessman who is as shrewd as can be. When he bought into Cardiff, he thought it is just business and little does he know that he not only bought the business, he bought the fans, the patriotism, the blood and tears of the club. He took on the best way he could and start to think how he can turn the club into good business through marketing, hence rebranding. In the course of it, he discovered that having someone screwed you is bad enough but having someone whom you had entrusted to run your team carelessly spend your 50million and scheming is another. But that is history already...he has now realised the whole package that come along with the business. I believed he learned in a very fast manner given that he is a old recalcitrant billionaire. But deep down he is actually a nice guy.
Tan has big plans for CFCC in the Far East and it is inevitable that he is going to spend a awful lot to stay afloat in the Premier League whatever it takes. Watch this space...more news of CFCC in the Far East will come out in due course.
Meanwhile we wait for the official good news.

Cardiff City set to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as new manager
2 Jan 2014 07:52

Ex-Manchester United striker sat with Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan at yesterday's Arsenal match, and is expected to confirm his move today

Cardiff City expect to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager today.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan sent his private jet to Norway to collect Solskjaer and the Molde coach travelled on from Luton airport to meet the Malaysian businessman and club chairman Mehmet Dalman at the Emirates Stadium in London.

The 40-year-old sat alongside Tan in the directors’ box as Cardiff lost 2-0 to Arsenal – Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott depriving the Bluebirds of a hard-fought point in the final few minutes.

Dalman has been in negotiations with the former Manchester United striker since the sacking of Malky Mackay last Friday and, barring a surprise last-minute U-turn from Solskjaer, he now looks to have persuaded him to join Cardiff, with a press conference likely to be held around lunchtime.

The former Norway international will be offered extensive funds by Tan to spend on new signings in the January transfer window which opened yesterday – and Solskjaer is expected to target a defender, midfielder and striker in the next week or so with Cardiff now only one point and one place above the relegation zone.

Cardiff hope to unveil Solskjaer ahead of the FA Cup third-round tie at Newcastle on Saturday with and caretaker-boss David Kerslake saying he expected the Arsenal loss to be his final game in charge.

Hi all :D

I'm a new member here. Let me introduce my self, i'm Varrelly, a fan of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and of course i'm a fan of Man United  hopefully all of you can accept my present in this forum.

Finally, it almost happen. Time for Ole going back to BPL. I already followed Ole's career at Molde (since 2010) and after his first achievement in Norway, a news reported that he will go back to BPL after one season in Norway already appear. After three season, finally it really really happen

Actually i'm sad that he will leave Molde and choose Cardiff, i didn't mean to underestimate Cardiff's quality but it's all about the owner. I hate an owner that broken football tradition like Tan did on Cardiff or Glazer did on United or like Roman/Levy who easily sacked the manager in a short time. I fear that Ole will face a problem like AVB-Matteo-or other young manager face in their club.

But it's almost official, i really hope the best for him. Save Cardiff from relegation and extend his contract at this club.

And here, i'll give you a highlight from Norway League season 2012. Maybe it will help you to know more about Molde's performance in a league. I made 11 parts and this is the first part.

In his third season, he won Norwegian Cup and this is link for the highlight
http://tv.nrk.no/serie/fotball-nm-menn-veien-til-ullevaal/mspo30430213/24-11-2013#del=1. :D
You can also know something about Daehli (in second half), Nyland and Berget performance in this game. Enjoy :D

Hello!

Before you read this post, a little disclaimer: English isn't my first language, so beware bad grammars and lousy spelling ;)

When the rumours of OGS becoming your next manager started, I read a couple of the threads on this messageboard. I've found a lot of misconseptions about OGS, both in the tactical-department and in the historic eventes that made the foundation of the success Molde has today.

Molde

First off, Molde is a small city on the westcoast of Norway. Most norwegian cities are small compared to your standards, and with the population of about 26 000 inhabitants it comes in at 21th place (according to wikipedia) in the «biggest city list» in this country.

So. How can it be that Molde has become one of the top competitors in Tippeligaen? (Tippeligaen the name of the norwegian league)

Well. Do you remember the downfall of Wimbledon? With the owners trying to re-locate the entire club? A couple of people who were in charge then, is the same people who gives Molde financial aid. With that said, they are also some of the riches people in Norway.

When OGS were coaching the United reserves, it appeared a rumour that OGS maybe wanted to take the seat at Molde. Unsure of the process, the men that backed Molde were more than eager to get him back to Norway. OGS, who were born and raised not far from Molde, eventually took the job.

Immediatly after the hiring, media in Norway got all «Oh my god, now they're going to win the league». Eventhough Molde the season before were like...hmmm...Like Newcastle. One season they come in fifth, the next battling for relegation. How could Molde challenge Rosenborg, which has «allways» been the biggest team in Norway (Norways Basel really)?

Money and somewhat a jesus-like comparison.

Gjelsten og Røkke (financial aid-people) gave OGS enough support on the transfermarket so he could build his own team from scratch. The signings, both in the staff-department as well as players, were solid – making Molde win the league trophy the first season with him in charge. You could perhaps say his reputation had a positive impact on everyone and everything around the club, making it easier to have his players perform.

The following season Molde won the season again, but this season they had a tough start – being in the relegationzone for a long time (ten games or so). Perhaps the first time things didn't look too bright in the west coast. After the summerbreak (norwegian league is played from april to november with a short holiday in between), Molde seemed like a new team again – and managed to get enough points to earn a 6th place. With that said, it wasn't too many points from relegation – but they were never in real danger of relegating.

Style of play

I've seen some think of OGS as a manager favorising the 442. That is false. During the last four – five seasons it has been a revolution of sorts in the tactical-department in Norway. It isn't just «hoof and run» anymore. OGS was one of the first to implement an attacking and posessing 433 formation (or 451 depending on how you see it). I must admit, I don't watch a lot of Molde games – other than when they meet my local team. Therefore I don't have the knowledge to tell exactly how good he is in the gameplans or strategies. However, I can't imagine him adopting a style like Stoke.

In Norwegian media

Norwegian media has naturally written a lot of stories and articles about the hiring. Most «experts» are worried about the ownership, both due to the recent events of norwegian managers taking controll of badly organized clubs (Solbakken Wolves, Berg Blackburn) and the fact that Tan is a parody. In fact, I can see Vincent Tan fit in as a bad guy in a korean kung fu film.

Some point out that OGS is now out of Fergies mentorship, taking the job when Fergie apparently said he shouldn't. And of course, some suggest that he should bring norwegian players with him. Forren (Defender), Dæhlie (Midfielder), Berget (Attacker) and Nyland (Goalkeeper) are the names mentioned. Personally I think only Dæhlie will make the leap from Tippeligaen to Premier League.

Forren had his chance at Southampton, without appearing on the first team, before he was shipped off back to Molde. Really essential for Molde though, but perhaps not good enough for PL. Dæhlie is known as «the biggest talent in Norway since ever» and has exceptional technique for a 18 year old and has been rewarded with caps for Norways national team. Berget has played for an italian teams academy (I believe it was Udinese), but wasn't good enough apparently. Nyland played extremely well for Norway u-21 in Israel, making him a prospect for the future. Has played regularly for Molde since he came from Hødd (in adecco, norways championship) last year.

It must be said. The former assistant manager of Wimbledon, Lars Tjernås, has warned OGS of buying norwegian players.

With that said,

Good luck! Hopefully you'll have success :)
