Re: ' A STEWARDS ENQUIRY IN TO BANNER FIASCO '

A steward told me half time that they have been told take any banners away or they could face the sack too
This Steward actually disagreed with the policy and said " They were only saying thank you to Malky"
So although some might be bad eggs the majority are okay and I think we need to be looking further in and upwards to why this happened,
It seems its not a few arrogant stewards its their job being under threat.
I could understand them taking tan out posters, but thank you malky, someone needs to tell Tan we are not in Malaysia and we as a nation have removed dictators from countries in recent past. we have freedom of speech and we will exercise that right.

Agree with the post above. I find the vast majority of stewards ok. But there are a few bad eggs and they are walking on thin ice.
But the problem is with Tan he comes from a culture where free speech is not allowed and stamped on with an iron fist. But this loon is now in our country and we can have free speech. We now need more of these banners and then when the stewards are doing what they are ordered to do by the dictaror, fans should then video it and post them on here and you tube.

Are banners allowed to be unfurled within the stadium?

the stewards are told what to do before the game and at any time they can ask for your card . if a steward is out of order then commplain . i have seen some supporters out of order with stewards too

Doesn't sound very official. If the club say no banners on any given day, then it's no banners. If you have one your and asked to take it down, if you refuse (politely i'm sure). It's removed from your person and given back after the match. Not a difficult one. Very similar to how it worked in school. Teacher removed offending object, you got it back at the end of the day. Easy concept, even for the insanely stupid.

I know it's a bit off-topic, but why would a steward ask for your card anyway? I was in a quiet row in the grandstand - nothing going on - and a steward came and asked to see everyone's card. It was like the Stasi.

Am I the only one who thinks this has increased since Tan took over?

I can understand the stewards telling people to take down banners etc. as they have to follow instructions and would be risking their jobs if they are not seen to be trying to remove them. However, there is no need for the over the top approach that some of them are taking. I've seen a few people praising the Liverpool stewards now and from what I saw they weren't much better. Right in front of me a steward was squaring up to a girl when she complained about the view. This resulted in both her and her boyfriend being ejected about 5 minutes after the game started. Also saw a couple of people thrown out at halftime for doing very little if anything wrong. One of the police officers on the turnstiles also tried to confiscate my tobacco tin as he thought I was going to throw it  .

Latest News wrote:Cardiff City stadium officials are investigating the behaviour of certain stewards at the Sunderland game.

Complaints have been made by a number of fans after being threatened of being banned from the stadium should they hold up any banners.

One father has complained that his child was barged into by stewards in the family stand when they were trying to retrieve the 'Thank You Malky' banner along his row, the father asked the steward for an apology and the steward in question replied in an arrogant manner and told him to 'shut it or you will be banned'. A heated argument between the father and steward ensued as a result.

Fans from the Canton Stand have complained about the stewarding in their stand also related to banners they had confiscated or torn up by stewards also.

Could you imagine that happening in the 70s and 80s. :laughing6: Talk about a bloodbath.
