The mail has now changes part of the story

Last week Moody began legal proceedings against Cardiff after chief executive Simon Lim released a statement claiming that ‘the overspending of £15m has greatly upset Tan Sri, resulting in the removal of Iain Moody as head of recruitment’. Moody, who has since joined Crystal Palace, was in a position to negotiate with clubs, players and agents on behalf of the club but according to Moody the deals were always signed off by a senior club official.
There is nothing to suggest Moody or Mackay have done anything improper.

MayorOfLondon wrote:"Caulker was bought from Tottenham for £11m but, if they decide to sell him, Cardiff must pay 50 per cent of any transfer fee over £11m to Tottenham."

So basically we have to sell Caulker for over 22 mil to make any money off him.

To be fair on that one , would have been the only way you would have got him off the spuds. Standard practice that one.

No.

If you sell him for £12m then you get the £11m back and split the profit. In the case of the example 500k each for you and Spurs.

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

I would say this has been leaked to the press by Tans camp, can't be Malky can it !

Got a feeling this is going to get very messy, with both Malky and Moody responding in some form with their side of the story.

Again it appears it will all be aired in the public domain, which is very sad for the Club.

Tan stated yesterday that the club had washed too much of it's dirty linen in public and now we get this.

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:22 am

I think we got a bit deperate, we were too slow in the Market and then needed to overpay to get them in. Agents fees are the worst basically getting paid by both sides for saying do you want this player he's really good ........

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:29 am

This is an interesting article really......well, gives a different take on things anyways.

This paints the picture that Tan gave the Manager and Head of recruitment the freedom and financial backing they wanted in the summer........this seems to fly in the face of the opinion that Tan is a dictator!

Those figures look horrendous. No wonder some of the players look fecked off and demotivated.

Malky banged the drum that he and his recruitment team were the dog's bollocks.......looks like it was just the bollocks part to me.

Was it Jol who publicly stated that we blew Fulham (if it was Jol) out of the water with the Cornelius transfer, well he wasn't wasn't wrong was he!!

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:30 am

On Brayford though he was highly rated and if he started every game then 20,000 a week wouldn't of been too bad, corn dog wages I can't believe that though

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:31 am

Just think there's more to come on this one, from Malky and Moody !

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:38 am

Actually that's a very valid point.

In the past Malky always stated he had final word on transfers and constantly commended Moody for dealing with negotiations....

It seems Tan is GUILTY OF TRUSTING the pair of them with the budget, yet again this may be Malkys inexperience of the big deals but I'm speechless as to how Tan can be questioned since this has come out....

If you think back, all of the problems started before the Newcastle game where the mail run a story of players complaining about bonuses - well, this matches that!!!!

Not once in the past few weeks, since Malky became strangely vocal, did he make comment on the "overspend" statement from Lim - Why is that?

I'm sorry Malky - lovely guy, decent manager but the truth will come out always....

Come on and support the BOYS and make some nooooiiiiisssssseeee!!!!!

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:43 am

Would like to hear Malkys side of the story before I comment.

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:48 am

This explains why we have had Odemwingie every week when he is obviously not what he used to be. After pissing all that dosh on Cornelius having Campbell, Bellers, Maynard, Mason, Rudy & Tommy Smith on the books, Malky couldn't admit we got another dud.....

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:53 am

As said by others, some of those figures (if accurate) are crazy. How can we pay Cornelius £45k p/w and he be "on for the future"! Brayford's deal is also crazy - may as well have just kept Super Kev and saved the £

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 9:02 am

If true, then this article goes a long way in explaining things more clearly. Panic buys? No experience in buying players at this level?? An executive board with little or no footballing experience having to leave all the transfer dealings to a couple of novices???

With a budget of around £35 million (allegedly) it must have like a couple of kids in a sweet shop, with the agents (shop keepers) creaming their pants!

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Sat Dec 28, 2013 9:04 am

The mail article is putting into the public domain what I'm sure most of us more balanced supporters have been thinking since everything blew up back in the summer. I don't know why it was so hard for supporters to believe or understand that VT had given the people that he employed to take care of transfers, carte Blanche to sign and pay what they thought was the going rate for those players. He trusted them, because he knows nothing of the industry. The same goes for not giving that responsibility to Simon Lim, as he knows nothing. It now turns out that the club have paid well over the odds for some of those players. This probably shocked VT, when the derails were initially examined, then another shock followed with the players demanding their bonuses, and no doubt Malky and Moody backing them and wanting even more money off VT at a time when he already felt ripped off.
If anything it looks like our dictator VT, has been guilty of not being strict enough and way too trusting of the football men. I don't blame Malky and Moody for the money that have wasted, that's just football. It is a very difficult art in getting the right players at the right price, it puts into perspective how brilliant Jenkins and Swansea have been in their transfer dealings.

One wonders where Dalman and Lim were when these deals were completed - incredible incompetence by ALL concerned

Holy shit if that is only partially correct then that is shocking. Which begs the question does Tan always let his employers have an open cheque book ?

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

If all this is meant to be true, I can't see Tan giving the next manager lots to spend in January, as has been reported elsewhere.

Plus, as it's the Mail, I'd take this with a huge pinch of salt...

No wonder Tan is post that's shocking business

Re: DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Some unbelievable figures in that, shocking.

I dread to think what the wages are like for the players on the fridge of and out of the squad. Brayford, Smith, kiss, Etien that's probably 50k a week plus down the drain. Chuck cornflour on top nearly 400k a month hardly being used.

You'd think Tan would put some trust in the management and not get involved in affairs, which is where he has made a mistake by here. Many of us do not want tan meddling with things but by the looks of things he needs to, because the management has been totally incompetent here.

They say Cornelius earns £2.1m a year for 5 years, and initial sum being £10.9m if appearances are triggered (which you would assume they would be in 5 years).

That means the total package to bring in Cornelius was £21.4 million and some say hes no better than Rudy Gestede

I haven't even added signing on fee or agents fee into that.

Thats shocking.

So how can you say that "considering its the mail take it with a pinch of salt"?

They clearly have a superb contact at the club and have broken all major news stories and signings this year.
