Ok looks like it's going to be OLG but SSN just mentioned that Bielsa has now been mentioned as a candidate for the role in the past 30 mins! I mentioned him name as a spot of wishful thinking on another thread but no way thought he would seriously be linked, perhaps SSN just reads this forum :ayatollah:

his experience gained from ferguson is undeniable. he was given the coaching job of bringing forward the youth and reserve set up of manchester utd we might have a real managerial prodigy on our hands with this one

Again, there is a difference with managing the youth and reserve teams. I would rather someone come in with a wealth of experience who has been there, done it and knows what it's all about to survive in the Premiership, but that's just me!

Bit of a different situation there though mate. Palace were awful before he came in. Holloway was clueless with his tactics, no direction or leadership, but Pulis has made them more of a solid outfit. Mackay was already getting the best out of the players he's got to use, couldn't really have done anymore.

No mention of Glen Hoddle in there, but I believe he could "do a job" for us :ayatollah:

Yilmaz Vural? I bloody well hope not with his record (and the fact that he has already failed under Tan)

Phil Brown should get Cardiff job, he's the only manager to have worked in the Prem previously with a ridiculous tan ;)

I was slightly unsure on him, but he is growing on me.

Much better than the Turk from what I have seen on Wiki and Goran-Eriksson is even worse.

COYBB!!

I agree but my response was to Swansea lad who said it'll take basically ages for any new coach to get the players playing but my argument is that look at Pulis, Poyet. Don't need to change much as they haven't but changing the Manager can have wonderful effects and results and by looking at the above names then it seems to work.

How do you possibly know malky has been getting the best out of his players? Maybe it's Malkys tactics that are bad, and a change like palace will be exactly what we need. Malky is on Holloways level IMO, they are both champ managers, holloway can do enough to get teams to the prem but not keep them there, malky is exactly like holloway

I'd say he's been getting the best out of them because many of the players are simply average footballers, yet he got them promoted and not once been in the bottom 3. Also had some great results and only been outclassed on a handful of occaisons

Over the last few weeks Caulker and Medel have been half the players they were and worn out. Think it's down to the way the team is set up. New man could make all the difference.

He goes to Fergie for advice.

Fergie in his book talks quite strongly about Manager / Chairman relationship.

Could you see Fergie advising a yes ?

I can't - a lot of hype here

Re: Ole Gunnar solskjaer to be next manager

Fri Dec 27, 2013 3:41 pm

Says in all the newspaper reports that he has won back to back league titles. He hasn't. He won the league '12-'13 and had an awful start to his second season.. Was in the relegation zone most of the first two three months. They were better in the second half of the season and won the Norwegian Cup. He's still learning!

Re: Ole Gunnar solskjaer to be next manager

Fri Dec 27, 2013 3:41 pm

I just despair at what fool manager we are gonna get next. Either someone unproven or unheard of, tan yes men or jaded journeymen after a prem league cheque. Or even the cretin himself god save me. Holds head in hands. If we got relegated for getting our identity back it would be fine. But this. Words fail me

I don't think it's down to the way the team is set up to be honest mate. More of who the team consists of. Medel and Caulker are streets ahead of the rest of the 11 (other than Marshall) so it's no wonder they've had to do double the work

Steve, can you explain/expand on the above please?

Who goes to Fergie for advice?

Who would be the "yes" man you refer to?

Also, are you concerned that Malky may return to the Boleyn Ground shortly?
