Be worth seeking the advice of Huw Jenkins, he seems to have an eye for a good manager who knows how to get his team playing football.

Sad to see MM go but it was inevitable, particularly given the result yesterday, hope it is not too late to save our season :malky:

Shame, but inevitable. Could not continue any longer. Seeds sown after palace game or if already sown prior to that, they were well watered. Replacement needs to be a good one. Solskjaer with a director of football would fit the bill.

The board of directors have decided...what a f*cking joke these gutless wankers deserve to be boiled in piss. As for the Chairman what a spineless lump of shit. MM is a good manager we lack quality players at this level yesterday was a indication of how poor the current crop are only Frazer Campbell cam out of the game with any credibility. How can these so called directors look in the mirror ?

Is that the exact wording of the statement? If so it's really terse with no mention of thanking him for the superb job he has done, and that's piss poor!

Cardiff - Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay was sacked on Friday, the Scot relieved of his duties the day after the English Premiership side were beaten 3-0 by Southampton.

Mackay's departure comes despite controversial club owner Vincent Tan granting him a reprieve last weekend after sending him an e-mail demanding he either resign or be sacked.

That ultimatum was briefly lifted when chairman Mehmet Dalman stated Mackay would be in charge for the "forseeable future", but the 3-0 Boxing Day defeat against Southampton proved to be the ex-Watford boss' last in charge.

A statement on the Cardiff website read: "The Board of Directors at Cardiff City Football Club have today relieved Malky Mackay of his duties.

"A new first team manager will be appointed and announced in due course."

Thursday's loss left Cardiff, who under 42-year-old Mackay won promotion to the top flight last season, just a point above the relegation zone.

Cardiff sack under-fire Mackay
27 December 2013

Cardiff City have sacked manager Malky Mackay after months of speculation over the Scot's position at the Welsh club.

The 41-year-old guided the Welsh outfit to the Premier League for the first time in their history last season, leading the side to the Championship title.

Cardiff have made a solid start in their fight to remain in the top flight, with the club gaining 17 points from 18 fixtures and currently sitting 16th in the table.

But Mackay's relationship with owner Vincent Tan has come under scrutiny in the past month, with the Malaysian reportedly issuing an ultimatum to the Scot to resign or be sacked.

It looked like Mackay would enjoy a stay of execution with the two set to meet to reconcile their differences, but Cardiff have now decided to remove Mackay from his position.
