this way he has time to get the answer so cant say he doesnt know.

this is how forums at all levels work. I should know as part of my job is chairing high level trade union forums. Standard practice.

So ok then to me, its a Staged meeting or shall we say scripted meeting.

the only way it can be scrpted is if Tan asks the questions himself.

Craig, just my opinion if they cant just go to the meeting and ask what they want to without Tan going over all of it first then to me its a farce the meeting.

So what would you say if they didnt submit the questions prior to the meeting and all Tans answers were "im sorry I dont know the answer I need to check"

As long as the trust ask the right questions then there is no problem.

I have never been in a formal meeting where an agenda isnt set.

tan wouldnt know that though as he hasnt seen the questions yet.

Honestly, im not just saying it for an arguement but this happens in all formal meetings. Its nothing untoward.

this is why some get annoyed on here. They think people have a dig at Tan for the sake of it. Stick to the issue of why you want him gone. Thetes enough reason there.

Does it actually matter if he wants questions before meeting? As long as trust asks the questions they want to why should it matter? Tan still needs to answer them, if he objects to certain questions well that's a different kettle of fish! And he's open to ridicule and protest for dodging them.

When actually is this meeting taking place?

This isnt a union rep meeting.

this is a formal meeting. More like a forum where agendas are set so answers can be given. Im worried you say you are a rep and never enter official forums without doing this. What union are you in?

Then I take it you have never set foot in formal meetings with heads of your business (directors or CEO level not mid management) If I were you I would get hold of your A/O and ask for a copy of their EMM guide (effective meeting management) and all will be explained in there.

When representing someone in disciplinaries then of course you dont give management knowledge of questions as you're effectively trying to trip them up. This is not that sort of meeting though.

i have had meeting with directors an ceo craig,an never put anything in writting (mind you not alot is written down due to
the security levels we have to work to) an i have only been a rep in the place i work now an it prob is done
differently in other places.

Its a formal meeting though. If he says I dont know to questions everyone would be up in arms. He is giving himself time to get the answers in case he doesnt know. It is standard forum practice.

If its a formal meeting then there should be an agenda. The agenda would contain topics for discussion so both sides can prepare something for the meeting but the agenda does not have to contain each individual question relating to the topics put forward as sometimes topics are discussed and further questions are normally generated during the debate. A tactic that is sometimes used in such meetings when you want to catch the other side with their pants down or not give them time to pre prepare an answer is to use the "any other business" section of the agenda.:ayatollah:

So ok then to me, its a Staged meeting or shall we say scripted meeting.

the only way it can be scrpted is if Tan asks the questions himself.

Craig, just my opinion if they cant just go to the meeting and ask what they want to without Tan going over all of it first then to me its a farce the meeting.

I agree

Given him a way out.
