Disagree. It's easy to judge from the sidelines. City fans reacted with a mature, balanced response to the change of colours. We were in the midst of a promotion challenge and City fans did what they ALWAYS DO BEST - support their team and their manager. If the majority had gone the way of the minority [no criticising them], I wonder what the effect of large-scale protests would have had on the team.
'Malkygate' was the defining moment, of course, when to use the old cliché, 'enough is enough'. There was enough debate on messageboards etc on both issues to fill a library, but sensible, balanced debate as opposed to 'pitchforks and torches' will always win over abuse, threats and rants. That's why even now I'm not in the 'Tan Out' camp, more in the 'Tan listen and change' camp. Despite what has gone before, we will be a better club if the man can be brought round to see sense and to understand the club isn't his - if he doesn't change, I'll be firmly in the Tan Out camp, for sure.
Despite the numerous factions/points of view amongst our fans, the supporters of CCFC have behaved impeccably the last 18 months, and the Malaysian fella should be truly thankful for that !
The season had not even started when Tan ripped our identity from us. Sorry I will never accept why fans bought, endorsed and some even belittled those that stayed BLUE. My strong Opinion and Belief.

What should we have done then? Told Tan to piss off and gone bust, or possibly out of existence altogether? We've got Tan's money, we've got a premiership football club, we've got an expanding stadium, we've got a state of the art training facility in the pipeline, we've stood up to Tan over Malky, we've been rude and insulting to him, so if he is true to his word he will piss off but leave us in good hands. That sounds like win-win to me, and I heard several pundits on the weekend praising our fans at Liverpool and the strength of fan power so our reputation has been enhanced. f**k Adrian Durham and the Daily Fail.
PS for the record I hate f*cking red and hate the f*cking badge.

Absolutely you should have told him to do one! You would not have gone bust - as confirmed by your director.
£100m on players was the initial thought and that is what excited most people, nothing to do with going bust. The threats of going bust had beed staved off by that time.

We had debts of over £80m at the time. If Tan had pulled out we would have gone bust NQAT

We've had 11 good years in Scottish non league(no pyramid system) but I'd do anything to have us back playing in the leagues I knew growing up. My club beat Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen & all the big clubs in red & white in front of home crowds of 2000 max, but that was my club doing what they did. See past the money and the EPL because there is more to that. The first time I saw Cardiff was in front of 800 at New Kilbowie while I was still at primary school and now I have a season ticket.
Dreams can come true, without the Tan's of the world. He cares about you less than Malky does. Why? Well Malky's a hard working jock like me, and likd you we know what football is really about 'cos up here football means the same thing to us all. The difference? Malky can get sacked & make millions but we'll still be there next week. It's a game of chess bit don't get sucked in. Football is nothing without diehard fans.

I can understand that about wanking some saviour off under those circumstances. However Clydebanks situation to ours is totally different. The potential between both clubs are worlds apart. We were knocking on the premier league with its millions calling. Personally I feel you need more faith in believing no one was interested in us than someone was ready to step in.
This no one cared for us but Tan came from the board. Individuals who were to gain by having Tan here. Lets just say its better the devil you know.

Cracking post Paul.
I love Cardiff City and have done since i first saw them in a friendly match at Aberystwyth Town in 1980. I'll never forget my 1st match at Ninian Park under the floodlights as a Peter Kitchen header beat Newcastle united on a cold february evening (25th Feb 1981 i think) and over the years i have many great memories and have met some fantastic people. I have watched us playing over 120 different teams and have visited numerous shitholes over the years. I have been an exile for 25 years and have messed up my kids so that they too support my first love.
Watching cardiff city in the top flight was a pipe dream all those years ago. The dream has become a reality but sadly it has been tarnished by a meglomaniac owner with a warped ideology. One thing that i do know is that if tan were to walk away and we were to end up in a clydebank situation then like your goodself i would still be there supporting the club i love.![]()

Including £32m to Sam who we know would have accepted £10m and wasn't due until 2016.
The rest of the debt could have mostly wiped put by player sales and land sales with the remaining being paid off monthly with running profits with re-nogotiated player contracts.
But its no fun doing that as you would probably have to then live within the clubs modest means for years and build slowly. Its the day and age we live in - everyone wants things now now now - even if you cant afford it, but don't think many clubs fans would auction off their identity.
I certainly wouldnt.

Spot on Annis. It seems many are rewriting history to justify why they rolled over.
Of course, everyone knows why, it was the bright lights of the Premier League. There aren't many that admit that.
If it was financial security then why are there no concerns over the £50m on loan notes Tan has racked up on signings, why is there no talk on financials (I asked the other day when your finances get released and was told to shut up)
The rebrand happened in the off season where the winding up threats had long gone due to an initial £6m investment by Tan - the red was accepted because the fans wanted a big transfer kitty not to pay off the debts - in fact it was thought for a while by many quarters that the £100m was transfer fees alone.

What should we have done? Ever heard of standing firm and holding our nerve? People seem to forget Tan is a hard nosed businessman, abeit with some controversial methods and eccentric beliefs. He did not wish to invest in Cardiff City because he is a warm, cuddly, altruistic human being. He sees an opportunity and he wants it. Cardiff City represented to him a viable opportunity to make money and gain social status by getting a foothold in the English football scene with a view to getting to the holy grail of The Premiership. We could have played hardball with te guy and quite possibly have got everything we wanted on our terms. Tan probably didn't expect us to roll over and have our bellies tickled quite so easily and I guess he thinks those Welsh will never make world class Poker players!
