John I generally agree with your comments and I really am in a quandary as to whether Malky should go. Fitstly, his good points:-

1) Generally, he invokes a great team spirit and fighting quality

2) He is great with fans

3) He shows exemplary leadership qualities

4) He instills discipline

However his negative qualities are:-

1) Inflexible

2) Poor tactical awareness

3) Too reliant on Player's past achievements rather than current form

4) Favouritism

IMO one of the most telling indictments of his tenure is that no fewer than 8 of the starting 11 Saturday were with him in the Championship. The balance is wrong. To compete in the Premier you need s balance of experienced Premiership players.As it is 4 of the starters Kim, Marshall, Mutch and Campbell (apart from our 4 summer signings) are of Premier qualiy but the others are woefully below par. I think one major mistake Malky made was not to jettison the likes of Smith,Whittingham,Cowie,Kiss,McNaughton,Gestede,Connolly and Maynard who are not up to the Premiership, getting then off the payroll and allowing to fund the aquisition of more Premier experience.

Fimally, I think some are being unfair to Cornelius. Nobody has seen what he can do yet, he simply hasn't been given enough time! In any case playing with a lone striker is doomed to fail. IMO the problems are in midfield and not up front. In general we are too predictable and possess insufficient quality.

In that time he has taken us to the playoffs, carling cup final, won the championship and we have a real chance of premiership survival. If people believe that sacking our manager when he is on target to reach our objective is wise, then you need your heads seeing to.

how is having such huge advantages remarkable?.. WANTED by the clubs they came from, like l;edley, we wanted to keep him but couldnt compete with wages elsewhere............and the seconf year,well he spent almost double what DJ spent on transfers in 6years

ive thought whats been served up dour since day 1.......obviously the opponents were worse so we got more of the ball..but it was hardly entertaining.......but did get results........this though is the prem.....10 headless chickens just dont cut it.

I do worry that the introduction of ACorn is going to lead to more hoofball from Turner. Unless ACorn is some of Drogba/Lukaku in the making then his introduction in a 4-5-1 is unlikely to improve matters going forward. For me the style of play has to change if we are going to stick with 4-5-1.

ive been to 7 aways this year , and it is not ONE piss poor result............ive watched for over 40 years..seen terrible City sides, but never ever such negativity from a manager............i dreamed of top flight football ..but in my worse nightmare didnt think it would b this............strugle maybe, lose more than win yes. but f*cking try to win

Some fans that a few weeks ago that were singing 'don't sack Mackay' are now calling for him to go, and in the words of one of our asshole fans at palace 'get rid of that useless jock c***'.

While I understand the frustrations regarding our tactics, I don't think Malky has much choice but to play a 4-5-1 because of the quality of our squad. If you looked at our starting 11,every player with the exception of Marshall, Caulker, KTC, Medel & Mutch are easily replaceable and aren't premier league quality. If we played a more attacking 4-4-2 we would get our asses handed to us on a weekly basis, you only have to look at Blackpool's premiership campaign to see how ruthless this league can be when you try to attack established premiership teams away from home.

I think some fans need to re-evaluate their expectation levels from this season. If we are to stay up, we are going to stay up through fighting gritty performances and on the strength of our home form. As things stand, we are not in the relegation zone and we have held our own at home. Mackay is one of our greatest ever managers and after years of watching Dave Jones trying to get us promoted, it was our work ethic and passion that got us promoted last year and it is what will keep us in the premier league this year. Let's be fair DJ had more talented squads in his time at city than Malky had last season - the difference last year was our willingness to battle as a unit. Yes it was an awful performance but FFS get behind the manager, get behind the players and recognize we are in a dog fight. Getting on the back of our players and manager does not help anyone.

good post.............i do think though AC for that sort of money isnt a player we should have looked to sign........no track record at this or equivalent level...we are not yet a club that can take an 8million pound punt and get it wrong.........and there is a real chance it is wrong..8mill should b a 1st name on team sheet player.
