Will it officially count as an assist?

Nope. It will be a Mutch assist officially.

I think his main problem is that he receives the ball under pressure a lot of the time and has to make his passes too quickly. The ball for Mutch to ass on to Campbell was superb and what Whitts does best. Great free kick too and he wasn't far away with a snap shot form outside the box - his best game of the season so far for me.

Yep me too

Being pushed back inside, with the security of Gary behind him, suits him better than being stuck on the wing as his lack of pace is highlighted more out there, and at this level.

You get about 3 seconds in general in the premiership on the ball each time. II think he is getting used to the premiership standard now more. hes creative for us but i think we need him and medel to do as they do, and just keep the ball, we give the defence a break.

94% pass success rate from Whitts yesterday, classy performance :ayatollah:

Probably not but anyone with two eyes, and a bias towards Whitts like I do, will say that pass to release Whitts was as importaqnt as the pass from Mutch to Campbell.

whitts was my man of the match yday, his calmness and coolness on the ball was excellent and his range of passing is just top quality, he might not be the hard hitting tackler people like to see on people but why tackle when you don't even need to?

he does what he wants
he does what he wants
peter whittingham
he does what he wants

And the tragic thing about it is that numerous match reports that I've read state that it was in fact Medel who played the incisive pass forward to Mutch.

It was a good pass from whitts but defo not as important as mutch is pass, he beat the last man with it and put it on a plate for fraizer, awesome.

I thought Whitts was excellent yesterday, but I'd have given MOTM to KTC and the much maligned Don Cowie wasn't too far behind him IMO either!

I thought Whitts was excellent yesterday and a few other games.

I have been disagreed on with this but what he always does for us is spread the ball out wide in the space for whoever is pushing forward which is what he does best in games.

He is basically the person along with Medel who starts attacks and pushes us forward from midfield.
