It's ironic that you hate the British so much yet the dragon flag you have as your pic is actually the Royal flag, first used by the Tudors. You are possibly the biggest clown on this forum with your racist nationalist bullshit.

....... and you are of course fully aware the Tudors were a Welsh family who took the English crown !

True. North walians the Tudors.

Welsh. As far as leaving Britain can't see it a bad thing they havnt created a surplus since early 90s, before I was born, britains is a country surviving on borrowed time. I'd love to see us go the way Scotland have with their independence and what not, they've got the right idea!

Only issue with that is what natural resources have we got I offer now? We were bled dry when coal was of abundance with Westminster reaping the benefits. Scotland has that market of North Sea oil to boost the economy, maybe someone knows more than me on the subject, but i can't see it being feasable us being independent from Britain.

Well the Scottish oil in the North Sea is not Scottish it's primarily owned by Britain? Do you really think they'd let that go to waste? That's being used up over the last couple of decades, oil is not the commodity of the future.

Yes we were fucked by thatcher and others with our coal, as far as natural resources we arnt exactly top of the league. But what countries are? You can't base your countries stature in the world based on natural resources. I personally don't know what we have to offer the world as yet but apart from being the financial center of the world Great Britain hasn't really got much to offer these days.

Fao jacket:for those old enough to remember welsh was frowned upon in schools by the english ie: "its not part of the national curriculum"so does'nt need to be taught!my nan bless her soul did not learn a word of english until the age of 27!! And then only when she mobed from llandysul in cardigan to maerdy when she married my grandad!! She tells of how her nuckles were rapped with a ruler by teaches for writing or answering in what was her native tongue.WELSH!! And yes both my grandads dads fought in the first world war as someone said earlier under the "british flag" but not through their choice as they,as were most were conscripted !!

Well I think alot of SNPs argument for independance is based on the oil in the North Sea , so I'm guessing they must have some sort of right on it. Maybe I'm wrong I don't know. I know oil isn't a commodity of the future, but until we find a solid reliable replacement for fossil fuels then it's still a valuable asset for any country that can boast it as a resource.

I think alot of countries have shot up in stature as of late due to oil, you only have to look at Brazil to see the oil boom going on there at present to see the implications of the power of oil. I think Russia has recently moved up operations in Siberia to extract more oil to boost their economy. I think Britains role in the future will depend on how well they cement relations with up and coming nations like china because if they succeed then that will promote investment in the future.

Re: union jack

Sun Nov 24, 2013 11:39 pm

Without a doubt oil does play a major part, currently, in world affairs but I think id would silly to rely on an finite resources. Perhaps I'm thinking to far ahead.

In that case Scotland must have some right to it but I'm sure the crown took a lot of the oil, I think it was a large point in their independence. Britiain wanted them to pay their part of the current debt, even though Britain basically stole a lot of the oil. I may also be wrong mind.

I agree that our future does depend on how we liaise with those up coming economies you mentioned. Although the thought of us cosying up to those f*cking commy Chinese makes me sick.

Would be sad to see this at Cardiff. We are better than that.

there is a theory that the word JACKS, comes from the fact the city has always stood behind the union JACK.
or of course you can believe that they are called jacks because a dog named jack rescued no less than 27 people from drowning in the Tawe, strange thing is,since jacks death there seems to be no record of multiple drownings in the river, maybe crack helps you swim stronger
maybe them boys that ran into the sea were actually trying to lure hundreds of jacks to their death?

Yes I agree with what you're saying regarding oil, we can't rely on it forever. I'm just saying for the not so distant future until a more reliable renewable source can be used that's all.

Maybe you're right, I'm sure Britain would not be foolish in the whole issue regarding the oil and perhaps they do have a safe guard in place so they don't get totally ripped off if independence accurs.

In regards to china etc, its just the way the world is going, always has been. Whatever emerging economy offers the better opportunities and security for the nation we go with.

The Red Dragon was the banner of Henry Tudor , later Henry V11 , born @ Pembroke Castle and as correctly pointed out by Bluebird_87 with grandparents from north Wales ,who defeated Richard 111 to become the first Tudor monarch and hence Y Ddraig Goch became the flag of the Tudor Dynasty ,soon to be coupled with the Tudor Rose ! Rumour has it he did indeed shag a variety of English , Scottish , French & even Irish , Spanish & Portuguese maidens ! The joys of kingship eh ?!?!

Haha. I wondered how long it would be before Swansea was brought in to it.

First of all, there are only one or two Union Jacks on show at Swans games on a regular basis. There are a few that incorporate both Welsh flag and Union Jack and then the majority are either black or white or just Welsh related.

So, "the reason the Jacks fly the flag..." blah blah. Where to start? As above, "Jacks" fly a variety of flags. So to label all Swansea City fans in the same bracket as about 1% of our fan base is a bit silly. All the union jack flags that were at Ninian Park years ago were only there to wind you lot up. They disappeared in every other game. That is a fact. I can't believe you still hold on to this idea that we fly the Union Jack and you fly the Welsh flag. Would we be singing "Hymns and Arias" or "Men of Harlech" in every game if that was the case?

As for the theory about Swansea standing by the Union Jack as a city? haha I think we'll leave that one there. Swansea, as a City, voted Yes. Remember?

General chat up here is that it will result in a no. The SNP are struggling to prove key points to undecided voters. Simply put theres to much that they are unable to answer in a clear manner, for example how much of the national debt, how will they do when the oil runs out etc.

It's an intresting time as a Welshman up here actually and many people are askling my opinion. I think i'll be voting no, theres too much that i'm unconvinced about.
