Is Ryan giggs a footballing legend??

Giggs never did it internationally for Wales, not even against minnow nations sometimes. So although he has undoubtedly been an incredible player for Man Utd, I would still not put him in the same bracket as Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, Schweinsteiger, Pirlo etc.

So Bale is a better player than Giggs , do me a favour , bale has achieved nothing in the game yet whatsoever, and it's highly likely that when he does retire that he will still only achieve a fraction of what Giggs has!!

I don't think Giggs ever managed to reach the level of performance Bale is currently playing at. Bale has already done it countless times for Wales, something Giggs could never do.

Take all the team awards away as I clearly specified INDIVIDUAL awards, which as you say are a few young player of the year awards, a few Welsh player of the year awards and a few player of the month awards. The rest of the awards are tributes to his consistency over 20 plus years. None of his individual awards have eclipsed what Bale has already won, apart from perhaps his goal of the season award but Bale has scored numerous goals as good as that anyway. Bale is still early in his career, getting even better and will continue to win further individual awards that Giggs couldn't win.

It's going to depend on your definition. George Best for example is considered by some as the greatest player ever. But if you were looking at longitivity as a means to determine greatness or best, then Best doesn't cut it. So it's very wishy washy.

Saying he was apart of a great team isn't really here nor there. Plenty of players were sold or left under SAF's reign something about Giggs kept him there over all the ones that didn't.

He's still the most decorated player in English football and has been playing at the highest level for basically his whole career and kept his fitness at a unbelievable level to continue to do that.

If you say best is most skill full or most exciting obviously: Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona all get higher praise. But as a pure athlete and professional (on the pitch) he's right up there.

Wasn't he recently voted manchester uniteds greatest ever player (by the fans)? That's some accolade, considering the amount of legendary footballers they've had play for them over the years. Deffo a great servant to club football in europe. in the same brackets as paolo maldini imo. Would most definitely have walked into most if not all club and international teams in his prime.. Not because he stood out so much, but because he was and still is a great team player, who had moments of genius in his locker that could turn a game in an instant. In his prime, Giggs was a world class player, his longevity with the best side in the country makes him not only world class, but unique. the things he has won, and the appearances he has made with 1 club are likely to never be beaten.


To answer the question the OP was asking, yes, Ryan giggs is a footballing ledgend, if there was a hall of fame like there is in sports like boxing or American Football he would be one of the first names in there.
