Re: My email to the FAW

And that's the frustrating thing for me. The FAW have taken the easy option of a contract extension despite a poor previous campaign. I'll be behind Wales & reluctantly Coleman (as I was last night) but feel like some of the most talented players of this generation are being wasted.

Re: My email to the FAW

Sun Nov 17, 2013 7:22 pm

So what's your view on Welsh football Mario. I'll debate I will not get into an argument you'll have to go fishing elsewhere.

No no I know Toshacks results but winning pointless friendlies, turning the players and fans against him, playing Steve Evans CB in a consistent 5 man defence. Toshack every qualifying campaign was not successful, there are lies, dam lies and statistics.

Just to clear up a point this isn't an anti Swansea or England agenda. Our best players (apart from the obvious 2) are Swansea players (or were in the case of Allen who I think is underrated). I'm happy Ashley Williams does play for a Wales as we would be seriously f***ed at the back without him. I feel 3 of the back 4 should be Swansea players. My point is putting Ashley Williams as captain has turned many more fans away because he's English. It is an opinion but one I'm getting from the Messageboards and friends.

10,000 fans watching the national team £10 a ticket for a friendly £1 for kids

75000 fans watching the national team £40-70 a ticket

Ones football ones rugby. Both were friendlies.

Cardiff and Swansea if both at home could sell 50000 tickets

4 regions at most 30000

What's the reason, why is everyone turning away. Honestly if you don't go what are your reasons

Bellamys barmy army wrote:My email to the FAW Hello My name is Shaun Lawthom, a fan of football and a man who has been following Welsh football all my life.

After reading on BBC Sport this week that you reply to all emails I would like to put this to the test and I am seeking answers.

The first thing I would like answers about is Chris Coleman, Chris Coleman in the past 2 years as Wales manager has failed, he has failed horribly. Even after 12 months in charge the great work of Gary Speed was gone and we were back to square one. Now at the end of the 2 year spell, you REWARD HIM with a new contract. Now the first honest answer I require is do you believe in Chris Coleman ? Did you only offer him a new deal as you felt there was nobody better ? Is it because you have no money to get a good manager ? Or is it because the FAW committee is so old and out of touch you feel there must be a Welsh manager in charge regardless of ability ?

Another point on Coleman is this farce with John Hartson. Hartson said he offered his resignation multiple times, he has now left the Wales set t up to concentrate on BBC commitments, because John cares hugely about is country obviously. So my next question. Why are you allowing Chris Coleman to give jobs to his mates that mean nothing to them, the role could not have been that important as Chris has stated he will not be replacing John. What did Hartson bring or were we just wasting everyone's time and money.

Let's look at Chris Coleman's team selections and man management skills. His first decision to stamp authority was to take the armband from Aaron Ramsey and hand it to Ashley Williams. He slapped one of our 2 only top top players in the face and handed it to one of the Swansea boys. This has driven a number of fans away as Ashley Williams is English, we all know he is not a proud Welshman as he is not a Welshman. So what's your opinion of Ramsey losing the armband and also an Englishman being captain of Wales yet you will not look outside Wales for a manager ?

Also we can not afford for our best players to be falling out with the manager, yet Chris fell out with James Collins and made it public, very professional of Chris that. Sam Ricketts, a league 1 left back has to fill in instead of a premier league CB due to egos. You didn't get that under Speed or Mark Hughes, the two most successful managers in recent history. You got it under Toshack, the man that took us almost as low as the Vatican City in the rankins and they only have 10 monks and the pope in goals. You made welsh fans lives hell for 5 years under Toshack, you're doing the same now with Coleman, why can't you see the mistakes and learn from them ?

One final thing about Coleman, I was disgusted with his diversion tactics in the press this week, he said something along the lines of "we have Facebook, Twitter and Messageboards now where people will hide behind a Messageboards and criticise, most of these people haven't got a clue and never come to watch us'That is not an explanation Chris Coleman, me thinking he is shit manager is wrong because I have never played or managed at pro level ? No losing 6-1 and 3-0 to Serbia and losing to Macedonia away make you a shit manager Chris, if your regarded as a good manager in the game because of this then please give me someone who is regarded as inept with no clue. Einstein said "insanity is the act of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result" there is no plan B, if tappy tappy tappy pass pass pass doesn't work we have no clue and for that I'm truly disillusioned with our hopes and prospects. This is the strongest team in years with everyone coming into their prime but because of the managers our best players are either not turning up or just clearly don't want to be there.

Now let's look at the FAW. What the hell are you lot doing to try and get people back. Nothing, fans are making their point by not turning up for games, there's no passion, there's no advertising, nobody is doing anything to get fans back. Twice as many people watched Gareth Bales unveiling in Spain that watched him actually play tonight. Do something, if you want kids to come put something on for the kids. If you want adults to come put some beer tents up outside and some entertainment before the game. The best player in the premier league this year and the most expensive player in football were meant to be playing tonight and nobody came. I asked 17 friends to come to the game tonight most ignored the text, a few text back un repeatable words. One honestly said 'I'd rather gouge my eyes out' Cardiff and Swansea are attracting 50,000 fans between them and most people in Wales support one of the big 4 English clubs. We should be selling out the millennium Stadium every game yet we can't even half fill the Cardiff City stadium. Yet the rugby team who have 30000 fans between them for the regions and nobody supporting any other rugby teams selling out every games. It's because of advertising, passion, pride. Sam Warburtons picture is on Cardiff Central Station, standing proud, I haven't seen a picture of Bale anywhere. Sort it out, we're a laughing stock and you lot are just sitting around talking about the old days and what a player John Charles was not doubt. We have a team here, a real team with real potential who could do something with the right leadership and a big crowds. Put the right man in charge, and get off your arse and get the fans back in, do whatever it takes, just open the gates, you didn't earn anything tonight money wise £60000 at most. First Qualifier let everyone in, get it full, put on a show, make people want to come back, make people believe in this team again.Or do nothing, let us come last in our group, win the odd game and have 3 quarters of the ground empty. There's potential here, utilise it.

Please don't give me a media friendly bullshit response, tell me what you think, tell me what you're going to do, make me want to come back make me believe in my country.

I'm not holding my breath

Regards

Shaun Lawthom

I sent an e-mail of a similar sort to the president of the Welsh FA on Friday I was hopping mad because they had re- appointed Chris Coleman.

You may have to resend it as he did not reply first time round so sent it again with a message asking why they do not offer me the courtesy of a reply.

Anyway he replied to me saying that his e-mail was down hence the delay & that he had apparently loads of e-mails from fans supporting Coleman's reappointment.

Id rather they tried and improved the LoW personally. If the have the money, give more to the clubs so the clubs can use it to advertise their games, improve facilities and create academies or just youth teams.

I honestly think the LoW is the key to the national teams success. If the LoW grew and had more money, there'd be more interest from players, more talent created and perhaps a Welsh team qualifying for Europe (I know the jacks have but you know what I mean).

I'd also like to see the WAG give more funding to football (currently stands at something stupid like £1,900). If they helped out with local football it could improve the welsh economy aswell! Welsh clubs qualifying for champions league (wishful thinking) would surely bring in foreign investment to the clubs, which could produce more tax, more investment of areas etc.

If you hadn't intimated your dislike of Swansea many times in your letter to the FAW it might have had some credibility.

Re: My email to the FAW

They chose Coleman as he is a "yes" man who fits their budget. If anyone has failed the national side over the years then it is the FAW. From managerial appointments to marketing they have it all wrong.

You have to feel sorry for the managers at times, Wales have a very small pool of quality players compared to other nations and when faced with the likes of Rambo, Bale etc getting injured, it's a hard depressing task for the manager to select players as the game plan is to build a team around these guys.

Coleman keeps putting added fuel to the fire by saying how much of a Swansea guy he is it's driving a divide. That's not Williams fault but it is Coleman's who my problem is with

Slap in the face to someone who was hurting after the manager who put a lot of confidence into him died. It was the right choice, if it was given to a Welsh man or a Cardiff born player for that matter, you wouldn't mention it.

Plus, Dutch Ray is an idiot.
