Re: Who's the most overrated England footballer?

Joe Cole, Danny Wellbeck, Phil Jones and Micheal Carrick.

English internationals are always way overrated by the media.

Joe Hart was massively overrated for a couple of years when it was obvious he was nowhere near the level he was being built up to be.

The Gerrard - Lampard combination has been heavily overrated for at least a decade when its been evident to anyone with 20 20 vision that it doesn't work.

Players such as Ashley Young, James Milner and Peter Crouch have all been touted as the next big thing

Jack Wilshire for me is the current player who's yet to live up to the hype, maybe the constant injuries have stopped him fulfilling his potential.

Andros Townsend ? He's been excellent this season but time will tell.

Wayne Rooney ? Come on guys ffs, along with Ashley Cole they are probably the only 2 English players who can be rated as World Class

blue legend i would slightly agree about ashley cole a few years ago but leighton baines is now a better player

Leon Britton

The "English" Xavi :laughing5:

Half the people that don't rate zaha would probably prefer peter whittingham on the wing for us ffs lol, zaha is quality and would do well for us imo, seems everyone in football all top premiership coaches and scouts and england international coaches can see his quality but people on this forum say he's shit and overrated? I wonder who knows best hmmmmmmmm

Baines is a good player, no doubt about that and Cole has been out of sorts this season due to injuries. Come the World Cup in Brazil though I'll be surprised if Cole isn't the number one left back. As they say, "form is temporary, class is permanent."

Wouldn't say Rooney is overrated but not sure he is world class, certainly had the potential to be tho but lost it along the way.

I think Man U coached it out of him.

Would have been a far better player if he'd gone to Arsenal or a Spanish side.

disagree aramore rooney in his prime was the best player in britain but football has moved on

rooney wouldn't even get on the bench at arsenal or any other spanish side right now

The green eyed scouser strikes again

Hes won more trophies than the arsenal team out together and more or less destroys them every time he plays them.

There was a skysports column the other day that showed that Rooney had the most chances created per minute in the premier league of all the strikers this season.

He is right in is prime and he's back amongst the goals this season.

What I meant by signing for Arsenal or a Spanish side was that he should have gone to one of them when he left Everton. Man U didn't want his flare as they had Ronaldo coming through at the same time so they turned Rooney into a high intensity work horse which he does very well but it's not what he should have been.

I really don't get where you've got this idea that I'm a scouser from :?

I don;t think I've ever said anything positive about Liverpool ever

Also I meant in terms of personal development. In terms of his career it's obviously served him well but Arsenal might well have done better if they'd had him.

They definitely changed him as a player.

I suppose it could just be him maturing as a player but you watch him playing for Everton and United and he oesn;t have quite the same spark for United that he did for Everton.

Sorry but thats just a ridiculous claim. Doesnt have the sane spark.
Hes scored over 1 every 2 games for united, been one of their main men whilst winning countless trophies and individual awards.
He xcored 1 in 5 for Everton.

chris,iv said for years rooney is a class act but not in the same league ability wise as some players who would be considered world class.i think rooneys graft and effort levels make him a player that most teams would fancy.that,s why i cannot believe the crap he gets for having a bad attitude.i havent saw this on a pitch.this lad plays in any position he,s asked to regulary.the lad hates losing.wonder where he got that from?

Sturridge doesn't seem to click with him.

Not sure this mad idea of playing two up top against the best sides in the world is doing him much favour either.

Easily Milner.

Rooney is world class. He is 28 and his achievements with United who aren't a team filled with the so called 'World Class' players in this day and age is quite remarkable.

If Ribery is world class then Rooney is.

Rooney is class for United but cr@p when playing for England...
