An old mate of mine was a copper in the late 80's early 90's. He always said that they dreaded rugby internationals as regional forces were stretched. You could be on duty in Merthyr and be called over to Aberdare, Rhondda to help out. The violence was non stop and you didn't know where it would start next. A lot of incidents were domestic affairs - eggers pissed up hitting women and then starting on anyone.
On the other hand, he said the football was a piece of piss to police as you knew who was who and how to stop it from happening.

All found NOT GUILTY!!!
Absolute joke when you think that lads lost their liberty and some their careers from being on the Kings Road against Chelsea
As soon as you mention a RUGBY CLUB, it's treated completely differently.

Some had already pleaded guilty

Not sure how much truth is in it but one of the guys from our end who was there was saying that they had off duty police with them and bouncers,
so no surprise they are claiming self defence they will get away with it and all

Surely, it's GOOD news that they were found not guilty, it means the OB are unable to pin 'football' offences on people for fighting on non match days ? Maybe I misread it, and have got the wrong end of the stick. I was involved in a huge fight at Newbury races a few years ago, basically a coach load from our way V a load of blokes from Newport, about 15 of us were football, and apparantly a few of them were, the ob and stewards weren't bothered about it, just let it run it;s course, and no arrests were made, happy days !

I was there on a stag myself and anybody who goes Newbury races knows its mainly Welsh there on a bus trip of some sort. This day it just happens there was fair mix of both sides. You know what its like beer flowing, bit of chanting and banter etc, but this went up. Apparently some oldish fella got dropped by a younger cardiff lad. And it was nasty fair play, people being dropped right, left and centre from both sides. It seemed to go on for ever, them on top then Cardiff numbered up and seemed on top but they didnt take a back step once in all fairness.
Then the army arrive to escort buses out lol. Mad as hell. Lively day, shit night in Gloucester on way back though

How do you know it was shit in Gloucester,we went to bath

I cant understand how you can be involved in a mass brawl and get away with nothing.
I seem to remember a city fan going to the aid of another city fan just off the kings road, self defence to protect the injured fellow fan and got 18 months for his efforts.
lets have an even playing field for gods sake.

I guarantee, if they had been football fans, the verdict would of been Guilty
